Apologies if this is posted elsewehere, 3851 GT has been restored to its 1962 Tour de France livery where it was driven by Oreiller & Schlesser on race number 156, painted silver.

    Hmm.. ok

    Did it get nose surgery?

Violatti's nose was so asthetically perfect IMO. No lights, just vents for cooling.

It has been restored to its 1962 Tour de France livery, so has the lights.
It was only after being rebuilt following Oreiller's fatal crash was the nose modified without the lights.

"It was beautifully restored by Ferrari but was a complete dog to drive. Thankfully the boys at Joe Macari worked their magic and she is now not only gorgeous but also a lot of fun. "

Attached two Image Unavailable, Please Login (not very professional) proofs that the two cars differed from each other.
This said, it doesn't mean that the chassis numbers are different but it does raise questions....

Several team managers have been telling stories how the usually pretty straight forward Le Mans scutineering could suddenly turn into a very thorough inspection if a French team happened to be waiting for a slot released by a rejected entry. With all this in mind I understand perfectly that Ferrari would ensure the entry of an important prorotype by modifying both nose and tail to meet the well known Le Mans rule requiring lights to be fully visible in side view. Parking lights in front were transferred from nose to the sides, and tail lights were installed on vertical beams to bring them out of that recessed tail panel. New paint, new stickers...

    Cheers, Kare

Don't know if that was the official 60th anniversary tour, but there was a large 250 GTO gathering back in September at the Virginia international raceway

That was five weeks ago in NC, VA and TN. 14 GTO's participated. No Europeans, American owners only.
