New Riff Single Barrel
My personal experience with new riffs is likited to a couple Jack Rose picks (and let's be honest they don't even have mediocre ones, let alone bad ones) but it's a great way to roll!! We have a big reorg coming and I have a lot more people on my team, some new some have been with me for a while. I've seen the names and am anticipating at least one bottle posssssssibly going dry by the end of the weekend My Capt is coming over for a relaxing dram on the deck at the conclusion of events on Sunday....bonding and mentoring the young buck.

No photo, but tonight's porterhouse was accompanied by an Old Fashioned based off McKenna 10yr Bonded. Nightcap still undecided but leaning toward MWND as I have a fresh one on the way (a very generous and wonderful friend with an absolutely ridiculous life story who isn't even 40 yet has a connection at the distillery) and one more-or-less full bottle and another gettin close to the recycling bin. On a side note, I've started up a new insta that is 100% total satire, meant as a bit of a bear-poke toward the handful of "whiskey influencers" who fancy themselves experts and just end up doing a direct copy-paste of "tasting notes" from distillers or other well-known review sites, and at least one of whom *NEVER* posts a photo of actually tasting said libation (many of my inner circle suspect she has no idea what whiskey ACTUALLY tastes like). but if you want a good chuckle, I'll absolutely try to provide it at "stupidtastingnotes" (the name kinda puts out there that it's.....it's not even remotely serious). anywho. hope everyone has a fantastic weekend. hey it's Monza!!
Couple bottle kills to mark being over the hump of the 12 day work week. The McKenna was one of the best $35 bottles I've ever had. Though I know they can be hit or miss being a single barrel expression.
Picked up one of these at my local Costco. Not sure if it’s a “good deal” or just a “fair deal.” What is typical retail? Image Unavailable, Please Login
If anyone is in the DC area and would like to try some Willett picks, Jack Rose is doin a thing on the 22nd. Yes, I know, I'm as excited as the next guy driving into DC at 4pm on a weekday But.....purple tops tho. Will definitely be attending. If you can figure out which one I am, come say hi.
New to me, haven’t done it. If I’m really thirsty at drink time I’ll have a big glass of water so I don’t guzzle the good stuff.

No photo, but a little sip of MWND for a Monday evening. Hope everyone had a great weekend, and a good week awaits you all.
I had some of this the other day with a couple good cigars and they paired well. Image Unavailable, Please Login
I am not a bourbon person. I reached out to the board for help and suggestions for a gift to give to a buddy of mine and ended up with Calumet as well. Looks like I made a good choice. Image Unavailable, Please Login
Not the best day today, if receipt of news is counted on the tally sheet. But balancing it by toasting an absolutely wonderful man with some phenomenal pours at Jack Rose in DC. Willett single barrel happy hour. All of them are beyond words. Truly fantastic. And the names are fun too. Depends on what youre trying to achieve. I've thoroughly enjoyed more than a handful of Old Fashioneds made from 20-dollar bottles of Buffalo Trace, Eagle Rare, and Elijah Craig. A higher end will definitely elevate things to an extent but personally i'm a big fan of the "ordinary" ones.
Got the newly released KC 18. Been drinking the WR batch proof. A little more fire than I prefer but this whiskey carries it well and makes for a fantastic pour. Image Unavailable, Please Login
