Just paid off a car. Got notice that it has an E title.
But I keep looking to get a hard copy of it (I guess negative the "E" part of it!)
    I'm old. I like paper.
    what say you, fellow Texans?
Have you tracked down a paper copy of the titles for your cars you own free and clear?

as an aside... if you guy a newer / new car in TX, is this what happens now? an E Title?

I purchased new out of state, but titled in at the DMV in Austin. I received a paper title a few weeks later. I didn't know an e-title existed.

I also bought out of state and titled in person in Bastrop and got a paper title. Maybe e-title is the default if you don't specify?

You'll get a paper title. It will be mailed to you from the state.

Electronic titles are only used for titles with liens sold from licensed dealers, and even then, it doesn't have to be electronic. Almost always it's a new car with a lien. When the lien is paid off, the state prints a paper title and mails it to the owner.

They are supposed to send a paper title when the loan is paid off. I never received mine, so after 3 months, I applied for a lost title. The new one came in a couple weeks.

You can go and get a Replacement title at the local DMV office..

Once paid off you definately want one reflecting Release of Lien, which would not be a Negotiable title.
I keeep mine on the Fridge with a big magnet....
