They started offering this in 2019 (cancelled 2020). I did it in September 2021, and it was one of the coolest experiences of my life! Unfortunately, the factory still was on Covid lockdown and there were strict protocols in place. But we did get to explore the Classiche dept (and I second Tommy’s comment about the awesomeness of seeing not just your build sheet, but the actual assembly line tag that followed your car through production). They said the academy is set up to accommodate 14 drivers, but due to the Euro travel restrictions at the time, only 4 drivers attended our session. We got a ton of individualized attention from two instructors, a former rally car champion and retired 24 Hrs Du Mans driver. What the instructors did with the 308s in their demo laps of Fiorano before turning over the wheel to us would bring tears to any eyes on this forum. It’s given me a permanent internal chuckle any time someone criticizes the 308’s “sluggish” performance.

The fleet that day was four 308s and a Mondial (don’t laugh - it rocks on a track). But supposedly they’re adding a TR and 550 eventually.

Day 1 involved being wined and dined with Ferrari marketing execs at Montana Restaurant (lunch) and Cavallino (dinner), with a visit in between to the Classiche dept and the trackside hangar where the Client F1 and track cars are kept.

Day 2 involved lapping sessions on Fiorano, as well as special handling sessions on the skidpad and timed regularity sessions (checkpoint management along the track). Just to spend a day next to Enzo’s house, able to walk up to the front door and commune on your own, let alone lap a 308 on his sacred track, is special beyond words. When I first got the invite in 2019, I remember it being offered for about $19k for me and a non-driving partner (they have VIP activities for spouses, like a Balasamic vinegar tasting at a winery, etc). But I’m aware there was a big discount last year to encourage travel during the pandemic. We got lucky there.

Was the experience of a lifetime if anyone here is considering it!

I was set to attend the Sept 21 event but I postponed it due to all the **** you described.

As luck would have it my trip in June was just a week after Airlines and the US lifted the covid restrictions so I got the whole factory experience.

Funny story about that: They physically handed me my full build sheet, and I asked if they could make me a copy…on the printer that was RIGHT THERE, and they started hemming and hawing about how they only were “allowed” to send it to the local dealers (ie if I paid ~10k for Classiche certification). So I whispered to my wife to remember the engine number and original buyer name, and I memorized the chassis and trans numbers, and we didn’t speak until we both got outside and wrote all the numbers down;)

I didn't see a chassis and transmission number in my papers. And I looked carefully.

When they opened the clamshell document folder with my chassis number, they flipped to the main page that had the color specs etc, and I sorta prodded the archivist to pull out the green assembly line tag, with the checkmark from each person on the assembly line. I believe it was there. And then there was an internal tear card with the original selling dealer and buyer name, which I think I wasn’t supposed to see, but I snuck a brief peek.

Wow! These are incredible stories. Thank you for sharing it with us. Anyone know how the 308 ended up being shortlisted for this program?

A 308 was actually the point of the program. "Classiche". We even enjoyed lapping in a fresh factory restored Daytona. Ferrari has other driving programs with other models. Take a look here:
