My folks don’t understand Welcome to Country. Dad said at least they’re not telling us to **** off back to Greece anymore
Ernie Dingo did the 1st Welcome to Country 40 odd years ago ,I think it was done from tribe to other tribes over the centuries .....but I have NO proof of this .
be interesting to see how much of this current push and meanings are similar in context to both the native American and Canadian Indian ..push.
One of my girls received the Chancellor’s Academic Scholarship upon entry into her Uni course. At the awards night, the Indigenous Scholarship went to a 6ft blonde whom grew up in the Eastern Suburbs. How does that work?
Sorry Karen, I wasn't referring to MIM. I was referring to mines developed in the post Whitlam era. However, all sorts of sh@t happened in the past not only at MIM but companies have embraced (pushed) their social responsibilities and moved on.
THIS the ‘making use of’ bit... Sure, be proud of heritage (same as the Greeks, Italians etc) but leave the scholarships etc to those who need them. However, I suppose if it’s purely based on Academic achievement I think that’s fair (personally I wouldn’t want to be part of something that a genuine achievement).
How so? I thought it was a fairly integrated society....compared to here anyway. Many Maori owned businesses and housing, acute awareness of the heritage etc.
OK....My 92 year old mother gave me 2 kilos of scallops . Please tell me of some ways of cooking 'em ad with what?
