I agree totally. There is no risk but for whoever keeps body jewelry while racing; it doesn't affect anyone else. As someone already mentioned, there are other metal parts around the drivers, like the zip on their overalls, earphones wires, etc ... It's another typical case of abuse of power from a sporting authority. This issue has been resurrected by new races directors, to force Hamilton to comply. It's another FIA mess.
Same could be said for firesuits and helmets. No risk to anyone else, they should be optional too ... right?
But the "argument" was ... if no danger to anyone else, why enforce the rule? The extent of the possible injury is a different argument.
I said: “And considering that this would only be relevant in a pretty major accident where there would be much more serious injuries, I just don’t get it.” Regardless, it is a relevant distinction.
He is having a fit, whining and being disrespectful cursing to his team. For once man, just call it like it is. Just one time. One time. You can go back to being hypocritical afterwards, but just do it one time.
So, we agree that "it doesn't impact anyone else" is an argument that quickly collapses under the slightest scrutiny. On to the extent of the injuries: how about a metal nose stud, that overheats or otherwise causes tissue damage during a fire or smoke, impacting breathing? Ear lobes are one thing, breathing is something altogether different ...
not trying to be a total ****** ... let's remember that the person making a big deal of Hamilton's jewelry, is Hamilton himself ... because he doesn't like being told what to do. The issue isn't so much an earring, nosering, nipplering or cockring ... as much as Hamilton thinking he's above the rules.
Hamilton's piercing? If it kills him, fine. If it causes injury to a medical worker or part of a rescue crew, ban him from the sport for life and take away all his titles.
Yup...they should've seen then already that they where marginal on fuel and had to complete the lap. That lap was mega fast as well and I would've secured pole as well. His last lap was a second up but sectors weren't purple (the purple sectors where his abandoned lap). Oh well. At least the race will likely be entertaining now.
The FIA makes a big thing of it to ensure no one but lewis is liable in case he has a Grosjean and is stuck in the car long enough. Nose stud heads up and burns his nose off? "Sorry buddy, but that's on you".
That was an unusually entertaining quali. Well done Charles. Poor max - completely shafted by his own team in an amateurish way which we would only have expected from Ferrari. Ham turned up for once and nearly took the top step. This race is wide open and any of the top team drivers could win it. Total lottery coming up with unpredictable weather, Latifi induced safety cars and any number of other potential calamities. Should be a fun watch.
The same can be said for removing your Hans device. It won't affect anybody else in an accident. But rules are rules.
Exactly ! Only HAM has continued to infringe the jewellery rules. He's not leading by example to the other 80,000 FIA competitors who have complied. Poor conduct.
LOL - only a hardcore Hamfan would believe such. Princess Ham thinks he should have special dispensation. Rules are just for other drivers.
Not at all. It re-emerged at Singapore because of an administrative error, but the FIA wants to make a meal of this.
No, but someone interested in individual liberty might. The notion that rules should never be challenged is preposterous.
LOL - that's desperate, even for you. The FIA should change it"s safety rules just to please Ham. Excellent
