If you loved your 944 Turbo and the transaxle style of handling, they are a great car.

They do feel special in my opinion - and Rob is entitled to his opinion too. Its like some people love 911s or hate them. neither is wrong. You just like what you like.

What's the saying? opinions are like arseholes - everybody has one.

The only opinion that matters is yours. Unless you are into rimming!o_O

Go and drive one. I think you'll like it and it would suit you.

They're pretty reliable and don't cost a bomb to repair.

Of course, 4.7 is the way to go but if you don't care about the upgraded console or extra speed, 4.3 is still pretty decent.

I am shore if you asked him/her Dr/Mrs Pat would take you for a drive in theirs.
BTW they, like most cars now, were cheaper a couple of years ago as I was sort of looking as well.
The clutches are susceptible according to a workshop I called.

But not $50K nicer, and it's an auto. $98K is about right, esp if it's got FSH. The clutch releases very high in the pedal, and a lot of them are worn from getting on the throttle too soon. It's a big job to change the clutch, so see if it's been done.

I wouldn’t, but that’s just my personal view.

The Aston looks far more special (I know a guy with one) and I reckon if you considered it as a GT rather than a sports car they’re a good thing.

Hmmm I was always taught the higher up the clutch release, the more worn the clutch is...

Perhaps you have hit the right wording as a GT rather than a sports car .,they are good value if you can afford to run one .

Most of the cost for a clutch change is the part itself. Any Aston Martin clutch is expensive - they're usually $3.5k - $4.5K - I think AP Racing supplies the clutches.
I'm meeting a friend tomorrow who owns a Vantage S manual and I'll ask him how much his clutch change was and his usual annual costs. He drives around 20K km per year in his.

Isn't there a guy in QLD that rebuilds clutches - he does the V8 Supercars - its much cheaper?

He was recommended when I was looking at Vanquishes (as I was concerned about the cost of clutches).

    Thank you.

More than loved my 944 Turbo. Best car I’ve ever owned.

Vowed I’d never sell it, but you know how these things go.

    Indeed I do. I sold my lovely 308 :(.

Good luck Wes. Try the Aston.

And Simon was spot on with asking our resident Doc Magnum PI for the answers you seek.

P.S What modern doesn't cost a bomb when it comes to clutches. Doubly worse for DCT.

P.S I could be wrong but isn't it the Graziano gearbox - so it should be fine. I think its the clutch that is the issue.

Go twin plate and never look back.

For sure no Aston V8 is a match for 911 but up against a 997, I'll take the Aston.

    Clutch aside, not many points.

I'll ask my Sydney sider friend his ownership thoughts tomorrow.
