Of course they will be all sold out. I also believe in Ferrari technological prowess , but a V6 would be quite a disappointment for the last Ferrari "halo" car.
Don't even want to touch "AMG One" can of worms - it's a side topic, but "you know"... when even the Ferrari SUV(FUV) gets a V12 and the hypercar gets a twin turbo V6 - that would be something to scratch my head. Maybe LaFerrari is the last real "heart and soul" of Ferraris.
Isn't a genuine F1 engine proper for a hypercar? Don't get me wrong, there is nothing better than a N/A V12, but let us not be so dismissive of other configurations.
If Ferrari comes with a V6 TT engine for the "halo" car, they will of course have their justification for it - A lot of bla.. bla.. bla.. about innovation, F1 heritage, engagement in LMH program, slideshows, graphs with no proper scale, etc) But yea , marketing talk is one thing, and whether you feel really satisfied with that car (not the brand talk or brand value) - is another and most important thing. The LMH car reveal might use as a hint what to expect, but still it's only a guess.
It should have a NA V12 (from the Purosangue), not hybrid, manual option. To hell with how much horse power.
The engine in the Purosangue is in the lowest state of tune, so no. A manual is also a no. Finally, the halo Ferrari should care about power and performance, as they always do.
If Ferrari would have cared that much about performance, they'd have put a wing on the LaFerrari in order to make sure it didn't get beat by that ugly P1 on a track.
barely, and with less torque. Ferrero can pull out 900hp from that engine if they want (mclaren have 860-880hp in 765LT), with WAY higher torque. Plus who have said that I was talking about "just" of a 4.0 v8 turbo? and what about a 6.0 v12 turbo? (...) same displacement vs same displacement there is simply no match, period. Turbo will kick asses.
Guess the LMH will have a new V6tt with some Formula One specifications. Logically this engine would equipped the Laferrari replacement?
Wonder if initial plan for Laferrari replacement was a V12 hybrid and then they changed their mind with the LMH program and instead decided for a full hybrid V6TT supercar?
The last V12 on Ferrari hypercar was probably endorsed with naming the LaFerrari "The Ferrari". LdM knew what it really means. By a fraction of a second (Portimao, I think?) which does not mean much for me or other Ferrari customers. And IIRC the race mode on P1, with lowered suspension (not legal on street) helps Mclaren too. Portimao is a track with high elevation changes with ondulations - which is in favour of cars with AWD traction, like Porsche 918, and with less roll (like P1 in race mode).
I missed that one. Lap times are mostly about the tyres. The LaFerrari was on P Zero Corsas, whereas the P1 on the much stickier Trofeo Rs. Still, they posted dimilar lap times, even though the McLaren was on much quicker tyres.
Just to recall , in that hypercar trio "contest" at Portimao circuit, conducted by Chris Harris - LaFerrari and McLaren P1 both got "off the shelf" (non bespoke) Pirelli P Zero Corsa tyres. So the result is more about what I said about McLaren P1 running in race mode (lowered suspension by 50mm and high wing for improved downforce) etc. BTW, all-wheel-drive Porsche 918 run the lap on Michelin PSCup2 tyres (if they are bespoke 918's internal tyre model for Porsche, don't know)
