I've driven two GTB's and before hand I was fearful that the sound would be less than exciting. Much to my pleasant surprise Ferrari was able to capture an exciting (but different) sound than my 458 Spider. We ordered a GTS. The wait is on.
In person it sounds nothing like that. As the comment on Instagram said "My guy was early on every shift, also sound quality never transfers from video. Much less when converted to Instagram. These cars in person sound incredible" Not as good as the V12 but much better than the F8 IMHO.
I’ve come full circle on sound. I used to think my Pista sounded just fine. Till I sat in my buddys STO. And then in my 765 LT Spider. Now the Pista sounds terrible to me. I’m even contemplating an exhaust which I never would have considered before. I was at the 296 launch at my local dealer. They fired it up and it sounded quite nice. I was surprised. But the video did not do the car Justice. Regardless- the days of great sound are coming to an end and it’s unfortunate because I’m really starting to appreciate good sound on cars.
i have a soul exhaust on my R8 V10 Plus (i am a sound guy). trust me. the 296 sounds really good. way better than the F8, 765 LT..... someone will find a way to straight pipe it. you'll see.
Yeah when they come up with a titanium exhaust [or similar] to make it scream a bit more at the high end, I'll be in.
from what i know the exhaust is inconel (like F1) already. i like loud- so material doesn't matter. diameter and simplicity affect that the most. the biggest challenge will be making an exhaust that doesn't set sensors of on these cars. from what i hear the 488/F8 is a challenge for that reason. let's see what happens.
I have the Kline exhaust on my F8, but with stock cats. Just ordered the 200-cell Kline cats as well, as my car still isn't aggressive sounding enough for me. I have a SF90 and 296 on order, and even though the SF has been on order for over a year, I think my 296 will arrive first. I plan on spending time with both the F8 and 296 to decide which one goes when the SF arrives, but at this point I suspect the F8 will be the one that I sell.
