Thanks all for the great advice. I just drove my car from Texas to Pennsylvania, 1,500 miles. Overall a great experience. I will post more about it here: https://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/threads/first-trip-across-the-us-in-my-new-f355.665674/#post-148749361

I had the clutch bearing and flange replaced in Nashville, which was a good place to break down! The new Ferrari of Nashville dealership there was absolutely fantastic in fixing this and a few other small problems. Highly recommend their service.

Car ran like a dream otherwise, and I was surprised at how well it drove at all ...ahem... speeds. Just rock solid. I think I put more miles on it in 6 days of driving, than had been put on it in the previous 6 years.

This should be in the Ferrari owners manual.

I do not believe that the average American would understand the notion of "running the snot out of it" means.
Especially those who are products of the Texas education system.

Funny, I was thinking something similar, but CA education. ;)

It's all quite self explanatory really.

If you never go above 6k, you never have to do an engine out :).

I used to race spec Miatas. There would be turns where there wasn’t time to shift up. You wound just bounce off the rev limiters all day long:

6K? That's only for 1st ans 2nd and maybe 3rd. Then it's a short shift to 6th and I'm cruising the back roads of New England at 60 mph tops. Still trying to figure out what 4th and 5th are for. :D

    Ratios /mph per 1000 rpm

    1st 3.07/5.9
    2nd 2.16/8.3
    3rd 1.61/11.2
    4th 1.27/14.1
    5th 1.03/17.4
    6th 0.84/21.4

There was a service bulletin to repace the manual.

Manual states 7 years/52,000 miles (or km, can't recall which), but SB supercedes that with 3-years/30,000

Personally I'm comfortable with 5 years. 3 is certainly too soon, and I understand why some would go longer.

Personally I like to really maintain my stuff well, so I'm OK with 5.

So? That's been out there since 2000.

Not sure what value that adds.

For the OP This is the best response although some go 10, I know one 348 with 12 years but 7 is the reasonable outside.

Well, prior to my ownership, the car had done 7,000 miles in 15 years.

I have just done 2,000+ miles in about 9 days of driving. :) I plan to keep putting miles on it; good, healthy, spirited miles keeping her singing throughout the rev range.

At this rate, I'll have the engine out every year :p.

I didn't know you were a Miata guy! Cool. You should get one, for when the Jensen fails to motivate itself.
