The pre cats are bad on a CS I am looking at. I know those are issues on these cars anyways so I would want to replace the stock headers with pre cats. Is there any brand that is considered the "best"? I know of Fabspeed and Super Sprint and have heard that either one of those are the "best" from multiple people. I will be keeping the stock main cats and only replacing the headers, and I will need the air injection rails since it has that. Thanks for the advice.

Thanks. They don't seem to have the air injection rails that I need.

I'm sure trev can delete that on the tune.

You can get euro headers with air rails. I like mine.

How did you get euro headers with air rails? I looking to do headers on my car (USA spec) was considering euros and deleting air-injection through a tune but if I can just keep the air injection it would be easier for emissions.

I found a set on fchat. They can be identified visually if my understanding is correct. The air rail is long with the opening at the back rather than the side. No precats either.

Supersprint headers are equal length with F1 merge collectors and proper bench flowed mandrel bends and high quality welds. They are the real deal and perfectly complementary to my calibration work.. [emoji91][emoji41][emoji106]

Trev do you have any experience with US emission programming in the 360 ecus? Is it possible to turn off the reading of secondary (cat) 02 sensors, while leaving "readiness" on? I was able to do something similar in my Mitsubishis in years past where the secondary 02s were just "off" but the monitor for those 02s showed "ready" (in effect it was not looking for readings from those secondary 02s). I live in the state of CT, as long as the car does not throw a check engine light, shows most of the readiness monitors as ready, and passes visual for a main cat it passes "emissions inspection".

I did not realize there were 2 versions of the euro header. I just thought there was the one without the air rail. Was it something they introduced in later years?

Surprised nobody has brought this up yet, but I'd be a bit leery of buying a car with "bad" precats, as it's common for the pieces to find their way into combustion chambers, causing damage. Have you gotten a compression test on that motor yet?

Yeah I think so but i don’t know the date. I think some early A vins also don’t have air rails either but not 100% sure on that.

I've got a set of Larini headers and cats here waiting to be installed. With the inconel shielding, they look stunning notwithstanding any performance and heat improvement!

Should the headers be wrapped into a tape or put into a blanket or left alone or have other shields added?

Blankets are not very pretty, wrap can be made to look nicer. Both block the heat from getting into the engine bay (good), but also result in much higher rates of header shrinking and expansion potentially leading to cracks over time (bad).

Uncovered headers look best, but emit much more heat.

What's the best option for average street driving?

I agree, blankets don't look great and i've seen bad things happen with tape. That was one of the reason I went with the Larini cats and headers as they are inconel shielded, so no extra shielding needed. The 360 (and 430 I believe) is known to melt handbrake cables on headers without heat protection

I’ve been running fabspeed blankets for 2 yrs now w no I’ll effects.

Ive used header wrap for years w no issues. It needs to be installed properly.

have you heard of Header Shield? They custom cover any header is an OEM style heat shield. I hope the owner of these doesn’t mind, but I snagged this photo on Facebook because they were so beautiful. I think they’re supersprint and sent to header shield for the covering process.

Header Shield looks beautiful for those who already have (naked) headers to cover, thanks for sharing!
