I’m the same. At the rate I’m going through the liquid, and only keeping one or two open at a time, I’m be drinking bourbon when the earth is consumed by a dying sun. The collection is great for a tasting party though.

That’s excellent! A friend of mine got assigned to a role in Sweden recently, and I fired off a 10-year Old Rip before his departure.

It’s crazy how good it is. It had been a long time since I opened one, so I guess it’s easy to forget. If I could still get it at $60, I’d never buy anything else.

Looks like Chapter 6 “To the Finish.” I need to run one down myself. I’d be interested in feedback.

Tonight is a rye tasting night after dinner. These two:

The Mammoth Rye is unique, but I haven’t done it head-to-head with my $60 benchmark.

i dont drink it straight, so is using an $80-100 bottle a waste of money for mixed drinks?

    That's an individual thing tbh.

I could make Old Fashioneds from Jim Beam, Weller 107, and Bardstown Discovery and I *BET* they'd taste quite different. ;)

It tastes like decent bourbon, most this stuff is hype but its good. Never would pay over for anything bourbon, bourbon is very one dimensional compared to scotch but I once did have a toasted barrel michters which was probably the best I've ever had

I caught covid again when i went to visit dad last week (he popped positive the last day i saw him) and have been absolutely ravaged the last couple days. (It went quickly though, i'm all but fine today my voice is still a little low/gravelly but otherwise good to go) These days I'm a sucker for ginger bitters, but angostura sure seem to help with sinus congestion. Elijah, angostura, dash of honey.

Well I'll be.....was sifting through the cupboard and way in the back, I was proven wrong! I did not in fact finish off my little book Chapter 4. I have about 2/3 of it remaining in fact. :D

I suppose that means the collection is just about where it should be, not so many bottles i'm jumping over them to get to the kitchen, but just enough I forget that I still have a really good one in there somewhere. ;)

So here's something unexpected I found today.

It's a Willett single barrel 8yr bourbon, not to be confused worth the wheated 8yr bourbon in the black bottle that also has the purple top.

I'm not even sure how this got to my liquor store, there's not even a bar code on it. store owner said that these were only supposed to be sold on site at the distillery but I'm not sure how accurate that is. It also says 41/171 on the back label, I can't imagine that this is one of only 171 bottles in existence, it has to mean something else.

Any thoughts or info on it?
