330 GTS created from 330 GTC what is it worth?

Two years later - still hanging tough at a delusional $900k. At least there's no horsey on the nose . . .

Poor car! I guess the builder did not have any pix of an original GTS, so he just made it up as he went along...... Too bad he couldn't have gotten the trunk lid to fit...another 1/2" and he would have been in the ballpark!

 

Oh, and the answer to the OP's question.....not as much as they think!

 

On the top of that " a 4 speed transmission " maybe that's where the WOW factor comes from.

 

Agree with the price of $900,000 less what it would cost to get the car back to its original configuration.
Certainly look better than what it looks like now.
How much to make it original ???
I reckon around $500,000, so this cars worth say $400,000.

 

There's way too much speculation and dreamers in the automotive world these days. This guy who transforms a 330?? to make it a 330 GTS says it was very difficult. I understand that he did not rebuild it for his personal pleasure but only to resell it and make a big profit. Whoever buys it will be a big sucker who thinks he'll make even more money in a few years with something that isn't original. For me, this kind of object has no value on the market since it no longer corresponds to anything; its only value is the amount the buyer will want to spend.

Remember the Straman conversions? From the little I know, he did a good job. I recall a Straman conversion would sell for slightly more than a hardtop, but significantly below a real drop top.

 

For me, advertising a $900k car on Ebay is not serious...

 

I think they're all sad, some just more than others.
I personally wouldn't pay half for any conversion, but that's probably because I prefer Berlinetta and have pretty good idea of the amount of work involved to properly return one back to its original form.
While I'm not a speculator, especially with vintage cars, a cut 275 GTB could make sense, but also only if initially priced at half (or less) of what unmolested Berlinetta is (currently) valued.

 

I agree. I wouldn’t even go for modern cars where the F1 is converted to a stick. If I can afford the real thing, I’ll lower my sights.
