Hi, I'm looking into importing 296 GTB to Dubai vs buying one locally as car prices in Dubai are about 20% higher from the dealer. Does anyone have any insight into how much GCC spec cars differ from European spec. Larger companies often beef up A/C, cooling, use different glues in the interior. Is any of that true for Ferraris? Best, Roman
Yes re temperature etc modifications but how will your plan work - 296 is new enough to require a premium or wait 2 years even if you can get a lhd easily from London
Thanks for your response. My capacity to source cars in Europe (not necessarily UK) is somewhat better than in Dubai + once you factor in tax situation there is a large leeway to pay over and still stay under Dubai MSRP. The disadvantage is being that you go grey and don't establish relationship with a dealer. But that's not the point. Do you, by any chance, have reliable and slightly more elaborate information on what exactly GCC spec entails for Ferrari from mechanical perspective? Thank you.
Dealer service is mediocre here, there are not too many places to get a Ferrari serviced properly. A relationship with the dealer is not worth much. Compared to EU spec, GCC spec in the late 2000s past meant different mirrors (Arabic), upgraded a/c components, maybe different thermostats, a 120 km/h buzzer and some missing insulation and shielding for the fuel system. GCC spec tires may also be installed. I would expect a more modern car may have some software changes related to fuel, but I do not know.
