They surely wouldn't waste the official Ferrari tortellini on the plebs admitted via *gasp* General Admission.
I just received the email. I think we can say that Cavallino Classic is now emphatically a “lifestyle” event. You can tell by the prices…..
Yes, and was there a VIP viewing area before? Every CC I’ve been to was people buying an (reasonably priced) admission ticket and just wandering around as they pleased.
I noticed that as well. What is "the preferred viewing area"? Do the general admission tickets not allow you to walk around the cars? Are you not permitted on the lawn?
Access to the preferred viewing area during the Concorso and Awards Ceremony I think this is where they drive the winner cars. Sort of like at Pebble Beach.
Get a drone for the 380 bucks and you will have some change left for Tortellini............. (Actually the steak house right across The Breakers is excellent and can be highly recommended). Marcel Massini
For the first time in 12 years I'm debating whether to buy tickets or not. $380 is a lot for a few hours.
I have decided to not purchase tickets. I still plan to go in the morning to see everything lined up on Breakers Row.
Don’t be surprised if they stop people from doing that. It would be a travesty but technically it’s private property so they can station a few security personnel there to stop spectators. They already cracked down on the people who used to enjoy and shoot pictures in the parking lot.
It wouldn’t surprise me. After all, they can’t have those dirty freeloaders hanging around…. You know, I started attending CC long before I thought I could ever own a Ferrari. It was a dream. I went there to learn whatever I could about the cars, meet as many enthusiasts as I could, absorb the atmosphere at the track and at The Breakers. It was aspirational. CC essentially sparked and eventually formed my enthusiasm for Ferrari, even though it had already begun way back in the early ‘60s, long before there was such a thing as CC. It’s a shame that cost and exclusivity might prevent some from having the experience that I did.
I remember an incident a couple years ago when I stayed at The Breakers, judged the Ferraris, spent approx. 8 or 9 Grand for the week as their regular paying guest, took pix of Ferraris in the car park and some security went berserk. In the end I had to ask for the hotel manager which after some hours finally apologised and - without me asking - gave some discount. I had not asked for that. All I wanted is proper treatment as a guest. Some of the Breakers security there clearly overreact and have no idea what they are doing. As a guest at The Breakers I felt more threatened by the security than the normal guests, visitors or bystanders or passers-by. That's why I suggest doing what I proposed in post #109. Marcel Massini
Agreed. I have many memories from younger days going to Ferrari events for over 30 years, including CC, back when it was around $50 to attend the concours. Apparently today's Ferrari is not about the cars, it's about "lifestyle". When I got the email from CC, I considered attending, but at $380 for general concours admission (x2 for another ticket for my girlfriend), I'll pass. As another said, that's steep for a few hours. Doesn't comport with my "lifestyle", lol.
They were doing that this past time. Perhaps luckily, we didn't run into any of the issues as Breakers guests that Mr. Massini described experiencing. Hoping things are just as smooth this time.
1 grand per night and you haven't eaten or parked yet. Not to mention the stupid tax on top of all that. Marcel Massini
"Welcome" to the US. I experienced something similar last time I went. Key words: last time. Never again.
Amelia Island is $150 and that includes entry into Saturday’s Cars and Coffee as well. Granted they have a bigger gate and it isn’t just Ferrari focused. Hell of a good show though.
$2800 to show and have your car judged……holt ****. They should at least allow 2 people for this price. I live 10 minutes from the breakers…..I’m debating on showing my car now (just got the email)
I paid 2100 for car entry a couple of weeks ago. I TOTALLY AGREE that for that price it should include TWO tickets to get in. Crazy i gotta pay another 380 for a ticket for my wife to get in......
