I thank you too, for the ongoing education, sometimes I feel its a journey with no final destination. My reason for that is so few cars have survived "as delivered on day 1", so we don't generally know what came with any particular car. However, it is sometimes said you can never have too much of a good thing!
You and your team are inspirational.

    So well put.
Even though the end result is not ‘as delivered on day 1’ what you said justifies the effort!

And thanks for the kind words.

F50 107575 - £2,800,000 high bid at the RM auction today, is what my colleague tells me.

Quality matters: No service book; 20k+ km; Abused car

    Knowing all this, for a 12,000 miles F50 I had expected @ $3.5m - $3.75m.

    Wrong expectation.
Proof by contradiction: if it these price expectation were reflective of market prices, then add a mileage premium of 15% for a similar car of half that mileage, another 15% for a regular quality car and add $350k for a service book not missing and you get $5 to $5.3m for an average quality euro-spec F50 with books and 10k km.

What has become a bit sad about the thread is that it was initiated to celebrate all things F50.

They all left Maranello exactly the same, some went into collections, and hardly ever used, and some were enjoyed to the max, with a few fender benders as a result in some cases.

They are still the same cars regardless, lets appreciate them all, and put to one side values, which could be for another thread.

Even if different from other's expectations or the actual result, circa $3.5 plus still remains my expectation for this car given past performances & recent trends, and the fact that it bid only $2.8m is a bit of a disappointment. The sellers agreed, and didn't let it go for that. Every colleague in the business I've spoken to who actually specializes in these cars, agrees as well. Two F50 owners whom I supplied cars to agree also.

As a professional who specializes in F50s amongst other Supercars, my market valuations are not based on a specific interest in one or two cars, but those of with an interest in the entire production of F50s ever built. My expectation of circa $3.5m plus was based on verifiable past results of European F50s which have sold this year, with an allowance for the notion that perhaps the market is still increasing in value.

    For example:

    F50 104163 with 31,000 kilometers which recently sold for $3,305,000 https://bringatrailer.com/listing/1995-ferrari-f50-5/

    For example:

    F50 105053 with 12,727 kilometers which recently sold for $3,884,282 https://rmsothebys.com/en/auctions/pa22/paris/lots/r0061-1996-ferrari-f50/1201158

To those who pretend to get market results right every single time, Bravo to you, to the rest of us mere mortals who logically use the age-old principle of recent past performance as a guide, getting it right most of the time is the best realistic result we can hope for. Nobody gets it right all the time, the difference is, some are willing to admit and share when we are off the mark.

Meanwhile, your mathematical theorem for what the market should be for an F50 with 10k miles including the assignation of a very precise $350k for a missing warranty book is indeed commendable and sounds impressive, but I respectfully suggest that correct market results for me in my not inconsiderable market experience are not always based on based on a proof by contradiction analysis, there are many other ever-changing social and economic factors which affect markets too.

If I learned anything from my erroneous prediction of the result of F50 107575, it is, don't forget that no market is always ever-increasing in value, I will be more conservative in the future.

Totally agree, the constant focus on values is boring, at the end of the day these cars are more than just investment pieces but as you suggest it has all become about upside potential, talking the market up, and making up formulas for the trajectory as we go along. To illustrate a point of relativity, at the upper end of the value scale, I have multiple clients who own 250 GTOs, and I never hear them speak about values. Ever. They do however speak about the rallies or races they participate in, their experience with their cars, or the last time they drove it with a family member.

As with the black F50 I recently posted, in the near future I'll make an effort to populate this thread with F50s which are being driven & enjoyed. To that end, here's a very low miles F50 we sold to a California gentleman about a year ago (with Holy Grail warranty book included). He's immediately started driving it and enjoying it, here it is on a recent coffee stop at the Malibu Mart after blast up the Pacific Coast Highway.
