I have an 87 GTS and I have all of the technical diagrams, part numbers, etc. PM me if I can help (full disclosure: I have no mechanical skills whatever).

I hope you got it for a good price. Being in-op for that long, there will be a lot to do.

Is SuperPerformance a site that can be trusted? Just wondering why a timing belt kit (Bearings & Belts) and a water pump is $250 where Yacht Captian on EBAY is $750 for the same thing. Being new to Ferrari but very old to working on cars, i know there are **** brands / vendors and then there's the ones you can trust. Let me know! Thanks!

I have bought things from Superformance. Pretty good vendor. $250 for the kit is fair price.
I have never heard of Yacht Captain ... and would never buy anything from him.

Hello all. Sorry for the slow go of it. I'm in no rush. Still at it. Last weekend I removed the hatch, jacked the rear up, removed the wheel wells and spent 10 hours cleaning and degreasing about 1/2" of Crud from oil leaks, a torn CV Boot, mixed with sand from being near the beach. I have begun removing stuff like the air filter box, coolant reservoir etc to get some room. I will start on the Fuel System improvements as seen here.
    https://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/threads/robzworkz-8a-improving-the-328-fuel-system-and-peripheral-hoses-disassembly.359315/#post-141278858.

I did drain a small amount of very old gas, and the stuff at the bottom of the tank is pretty gummy. I really don't want to remove the tanks if I don't have to. I will run and flush with new gas, but i think i'll be taking them out in the end. Any walkthrough or links on that process?

Ive also begun filling the cylinders with MMO one at a time. Still on the first one as i wait for my 36mm socket to arrive to i can turn it over.

Did anyone mention the shift shaft seals? Maybe not the first thing to do, but should be checked. Is there excess oil coming out of the overfill plug at the back of the transmission case? It could be the seals have hardened and lets engine oil into the gearbox.

Also, if the shifter gear positions in the gate are not even, it could be signs of misalignment inside the gearbox. I know what happens .. worn synchros over time.

Another thing to consider replacing any hardened vacuum lines around the intake manifold. This enables easy starting.

RE MMO...some years ago (when I was quite young) we "found" an old two-cylinder cement-mixer motor that had been sitting out in a field for years. It was totally seized up - couldn't turn the crank at all with a socket wrench. We shot some MMO into each cylinder and, a couple of days later, the engine could be turned over with the wrench. We drained what oil was in the engine and cleaned out the gas tank, put in fresh oil, fresh gas, new spark plugs and secondary wires. It started right up! We did NO internal engine work at all and that engine is still running today! Not saying that something else couldn't have "unsiezed" the engine but that was my introduction to MMO. It's also an excellent fuel system cleaner but if there are a lot of deposits in the fuel tank and you use MMO, you will be changing clogged fuel filters for a week. I know this from personal experience! :(

Ill take a look. Thanks! First thing is to get it running. Then I’m sure I’ll be restoring this thing one system at a time.

Between the cylinders, pistons and rings there is no iron or steel involved so there will be no rust. If its reluctant to turn it will not be for that reason.

All cylinders held the MM over 24 hours. Good news. Everything rotates nice and free.

Is there a way to drain and flush the mechanical injection distribution unit? Or just leave it in there and run fresh fuel through it when everything down stream is replaced?

Still thinking of removing the tanks and cleaning. Any thoughts?

Fuel pump and Accumulator out, Fuel Drained, lines in the process of being changes. The screen is pretty much Shot. Where can i get a new one? I have searched and cannot find anything except a Picture from Maranello.

The tanks seem pretty clean otherwise. I will be adding some Ethanol cleaner "Delphi FC01 Fuel Tank Cleaning Kit" Just to remove whatever Gel is left in there etc. And then flush some fresh gas through it. New sending unit, pump, accumulator, filter, all rubber lines, clamps all on the way for replacing. Thanks!

........I like Glenn308QVturbo's solution for this NLA (I think) part

Does someone know how big the thread size that screws into the tank?

Ok so the stock screen measures 4-3/8” long overall, 15/16 od on the outer and 5/8” small diameter. This thing is completely clogged. I put my mouth on this attractive apparatus and 0 air was able to be blown through. Filter sock it it.

Go tp paint store disconnect the cross pipe and pour a gallon of acetone thru each one to cut the sludge, then the fresh fuel and maybe some gumoput will soften and pull the rest of the varnsig thru over time, hopefully without clogging an injector. It's a big job (to me) to drop off both tanks just to slosh them clean.
