Just call and haggle with Alex the same way he does.

Alex- "Ok, so what do you want for the car?"

Me- "I think $23K would be very fair, that's probably $12-15K under retail asking at current market"

Alex- "Ok, so, how does $11K sound?"

    Hey Guys,

Been awhile. Hope all is well!

I'm living in Nevada now but still visit SoCal regularly.

My 1975 308 GT4 has been accepted for auction at Bring A Trailer. It should be live in about 2 weeks. Photos are being taken tomorrow.

This was the car that was the Centerpiece Display Ferrari at the 2012 Concorso Italiano event. Personally signed by Lilli Bertone marking the 100 yr. anniversary.

I know a lot of you were there at that event.

    Cheers,

    The Kook

Sheehan has one…10046…for sale for what feels like a relatively low price. I clearly recall a few years ago when I was looking for a GT4 he blew me off. He said he couldn’t make enough money on them, and maybe he couldn’t.

I spoke directly to the owners of this car after the BAT auction. They “believed” the car was easily worth north of $60k, due mostly to the previous weeks insane $70k+ auction on a dark blue car. This car was pretty rough mechanically. The car was probably had in the 50’s. It does have some nice originality points, but pretty pricey given the mechanicals.

That car is in serious need of some new tires. Aside from turning brown, the newest tire on was manufactured the 13th week of 2007. I wouldn't feel safe driving on almost 16 year old tires! But like xpensivewino noted, it does get some nice points for originality. It just needs some TLC.

Unfortunately the shields on the fenders were hand painted on, so removal without disturbing the original black paint beneath would be very difficult if not impossible. The market spoke on that car, it’s a $50k car at best, even with the crazy values we are seeing in the last year. Fortunately the market is softening quite a bit, so we are seeing prices start to come down and panic buys come to a halt. The 456 today was a great example, the car only bid to $62k less than a year after the buyer paid $80k for it on the same platform.

I've always thought the 75 was the best year for the GT4. Great looking video. That will probably get a lot of interest on BAT. And now I get to say that I remember looking at GT4's when you could pick up a half decent example for around $20K. Time marches on ...

Yes and no. I thought it would sell for more, but from a collector’s standpoint, the color change is a huge mark against value. So $71k, while less than we had hoped it would fetch, is not an unsupported number.

At the Classic car show here in UK last weekend a 12,400 mile series 2 , I think one owner car, good condition but not perfect, sold for £68K pounds plus commission. I had my car on the FOC GB stand and the new owner was soon talking to me about what he had to do to recommission it!

Agreed, very disappointing, shows “bid to” but apparently something was worked out after the fact?
