Check my math. I'm using online displacement calculators and its not adding up. For example, the F40, says its 8cyl with bore=82mm and stroke=69.5mm. Thats only 2488.6cc not 2936cc like I see everywhere.
    Am I missing something?

Reversing bore and stroke figures in your calculator leads to 2488.6.

Calculating the volume of a cylinder and multiplying by 8 gives 2.936 litres, so your calculator seems suspect…

Having checked the math, you need remedial math help. Or you could be French. French arithmetic is really hard to understand for English speaking people. I know this because one of my regular golf buddies is fluent in both languages and we finally had to just not allow him to keep score anymore. It was hopeless, and the bastard always won. We let this go on for years because he imports superb French wines and is indeed generous with them. Cheers and may the almighty bless Frenchmen, Frenchwomen, their wine and in particular their cuisine.

I believe that the displacement includes the space above the TDC of the stroke, not just the stroked volume. The volume is that space above the piston when it's at the bottom of the stroke, the complete volume of the compression chamber at it's maximum volume.

    2.936 is correct.

Pi*82*82/4*69.5*8=2,936,243mm3, or 2,936cc. So no, you dont consider the dead space about the piston travel. and yes, I am French.

Good day Max...I hope all is well in Denmark. I've shown this thread to my French golf buddy, his comment, in his own defense, was: "Christ en bicyclette I only use French math on the golf course!" LOL. Cheers to all in Denmark from frozen southwest Alberta, Canada.

Let's try this: rather than referencing a particular displacement, F40 celebrates the 40th anniversary of Ferrari (see F50, F70.)
