Wow! I never even knew what Petrus is. Thanks for the post. Insane.

Not sure what is crazier: The price of the wine or the fact that you have an entire F1 field sitting together for dinner. What was the occasion?

It was a "goodbye, happy retirement from F1" for Seb.

It could have gone the other way: Baku when Seb was in the Ferrari

Fingers crossed that that alpine doesn't self implode. Again.

In order to make donuts at the end, first you need to be able to cross the finish line.

Then again, maybe Latifi can do one during the race. :)

I just found the same bill in the news, but yes, it wasn't for the F1 guys:

    https://www.blick.ch/ausland/total-egoistisch-influencer-koch-salt-bae-empoert-follower-mit-160000-franken-rechnung-id18065874.html

Caused a **** storm on the internet for showboating while other people are starving.

Did the F1 guys eat in the same place? If so, their bill might be through the roof as well: Steak for $ 1,200. Insanity.

Guys, keep in mind that the dinner receipt is clearly shown to be in units of United Arab Emirates' currency, Dirhams (AED).

To convert to USD, divide by 3.67.

Still expensive, granted, but perhaps not as high as the 'moral outrage' narrative would have you believe (... not that I could come close to being able to afford it, of course ...)

In post #55 I used today's AED/USD rate and there is zero outrage from my part. I find this idea of a dinner together a fabulous idea and, before realizing there was something wrong with the check, I was amused that F1 pilots would drink Petrus. I would have assumed, wrongly maybe, that most may avoid drinking during a race weekend and if they do, I see them going for Louis XIII more than for fine Bordeaux. ;)
