"us" : me and some of the guests around him prior to the ceremony while we were waiting for Stefano Domenicalli stuck in Paris trafficjam… "we" : the great persons who restored his car, all of them were present on the stand next to him, look at the numerous pics in all medias and myself who was in charge of making the selection/hunt to match his criterias, I offered him several cars untill he made his choice on John Temerian's Miura SV.
This reminds me of a "we" story I experienced @ 18 years ago with none other than Bob Wallace himself. One of my Miura SVs developed and engine oiling problem, and I knew it was time for an rebuild. The whole time I dealt with Bobby it was always "we will take it apart and then we will make a recommendations, and we will probably take @ 3 months to rebuild it, and we will let you know...." But when I visited his shop in Phoenix, it was only him, just Bobby, nobody else!
Nobody can accuse Olivier Nameche of name dropping. He kept the sale John Temerian's SV to Jean Todt under his hat.
IMO the more Miura owner names like Giamaolo Dallara and Jean Todt that can be dropped the better, and, as LC3929 mentioned above, less mystery is often advantageous.
I can only agree with you… as you seem to Wonder to read it again : I had the privilege to be the hunter/supplier for both of them, they didn't select somebody else to do it… are you missing the real Reasons why they had selected me instead of any other "Ténors" in the world ? Probably because of some different talents much different than the one the "few afficionados" pointed here my little mistakes typing… in this Forum will recognise themselves, and all my friends/support collectors team are very pleased with my other talents... as they all encouraged me. I can clearly mentionned pubically that I have handled these 2x personnalities Miura selection for : Giampaolo Dallara who is my friend and Jean Todt - among all my other clients…. is that a problem for somebody in this Forum ? I presume NO… so continuing to comment these facts can only derive...thus it is Better to come back to the topic of this thread now !
Shiny it is for sure! Where these wheels back in the day sooo glossy? Also the gold colour looks to be not the right colour to me, almost gold plated! Well clean and shiny it is but i wonder how correct everything is done. How long did they need to restore this car? Are there any pictures from the leather interior and enginebay?
I did wonder the same about the gold color, though it could very well be the filter on the photograph causing that. Here are more photos: https://petrolicious.com/articles/lamborghini-has-restored-this-miura-sv-for-jean-todt-and-its-beautiful
All is ok. If we only could hear it from other people than you. Can anyone else confirm here? If I remember correctly, you were not mentioned in Octane's article about Mr. Dallara's Miura. Am I wrong? I am not 100% sure, but everybody can check himself. To avoid misunderstandings: I don't doubt that you were somehow involved in tracking Mr. Dallara's Miura and Mr. Todt's Miura. I simply have doubts about your VIP role.
From what I’ve seen recently following as a student of the hobby, the popularity of the Miura seems greater than ever and continuing to grow. Kidston had an entire ‘Miuraland’ display at Retromobile with some of the most unique Miuras extant in anticipation of his new Miura book release. This can all only be positive for the cars moving forward. View attachment 2654536 View attachment 2654537 View attachment 2654538
Thanks for the link, i have to say these colours are looking not factory original to me, i would have liked the gold more dark and less shiny.
The Miura deserves the increased popularity. Great Miura display by Mr. Kidston. Now waiting for his book.
Dallara’s Miura was restored by Cairati Carrozzeria in Milano (Nerviano). I agree with Chris, it’s great to see that the Miura is finally getting the attention and recognition it deserves, assisted by the likes of Messrs. Nameche, Sackey, Temerian, Kidston, etc. There is room in the hobby for everyone, as we all share the same love for the marque and model afterall. This should be a point of convergence, not division.
Exactly and for most of us it’s a hobby. We should not forget that the people you mentioned and others on here have dedicated their career to the Miura and other cars that we love and that should be taken into consideration. For that they should be applauded, it is for certain not an easy business.
Massimo Cairati driving Dallara’s restored P400 onto the show field at Salon Prive, showing the car and surveying his shop/team’s work. The smile on his face says it all... View attachment 2654547 View attachment 2654548
Yes, but it doesn't help: some do talk, some do dedicate their career, and some do - more or less - both. To me, dedication outranks talk.
My understanding is that the primary restoration of Todt’s SV was performed by Quality Cars in Padova (Padua for us American types). It’s a very good, quality shop that deals mostly in restoration of vintage Ferrari’s. Pebble Beach and Villa d’Este wins are part of its achievements. From a quick view of the photos available, it seems the ride height should be addressed, the air cleaner is not seated properly, the air cleaner base is painted black instead of correct red, the Webers were clearly not restored or galvanic coated, and exterior colors are a bit too bright and off. Anyone, especially including someone of Todt’s stature, paying a very expensive premium for Polo restoration facilitation, or VIP, or whatever else you call it, deserves to have a 100% correct car presented to them. Especially in such a high profile setting. That’s the reason they are paying the premium afterall. Other than that, it looks like a very nice car.
