Given that both kits are from the same year and both are US cars, I wouldn’t be surprised. Many peculiar oddities with Lamborghini.
I thought this kit was interesting. It seems to not be an original kit for a 78 Countach. Among other things, the bag is a single strap and the gloves are from a Diablo kit (which are still available for purchase). https://www.classicdriver.com/en/car/lamborghini/countach/1978/723762 Image Unavailable, Please Login
The spark plug wrench in both the QV and 25th Anniversario tool kits is the same found in tool kits of other brands models of the era (like the Ferrari 328, for example). I am aware of a very good tool kit available for sale (I have no affiliation). If you’re interested, please send me a message and I’ll connect you with the seller.
Tool kit from a 1987 US injected QV. Interesting to note that these leather working gloves have black trim. The vast majority of gloves in QV kits that I’ve seen have blue trim, though, as noted previously in this thread, variations have surfaced. Black trim isn’t something I’ve seen before now, however. Every Countach tool kit came with a bulb/fuse container (commonly referred to as a “pot”). In fact, early variation kits came with one bulb pot and one fuse pot. Pictured here is the pot from my 1985 Euro QV. From everything I have researched, the “Philips” pot (easily visible Philips logo on the top) was included in all 5000S, QV and Anniversario variants. Most all had a yellow container bottom with a blue top, though some came with green container bottoms. I have also seen these same pots in early variants, though I have seen other style pots in early kits as well. Would be great to see some detailed images from anyone that owns and LP400 or LP400S. They are difficult to find, but occasionally surface on ebay, and other sources. But, be careful when buying one. There are a multitude of bulb pots available, but the kind in Countach kits are very specific. Anyone looking for the real deal, you're in luck. There are a few available on ebay: https://www.ebay.com/itm/Bulb-pots-lights-holder-Lamborghini-Countach/254480241571?_trkparms=aid=111001&algo=REC.SEED&ao=1&asc=20160908105057&meid=eaf4e33519f64b74b1be0bfdcb328abd&pid=100675&rk=2&rkt=15&sd=254185909914&itm=254480241571&pmt=0&noa=1&pg=2380057&_trksid=p2380057.c100675.m4236&_trkparms=pageci:da79d00c-366e-11ea-8119-74dbd180d723|parentrq:a1b5a16916f0ad4d79a87765ffa0356a|iid:1 And these: https://www.ebay.com/itm/Bulb-pots-lights-holder-Lamborghini-Countach-X3/254480606715?_trkparms=aid=1110002&algo=SPLICE.SOI&ao=1&asc=20190711095549&meid=62828c12742f4303ab6543ed685e29f6&pid=100047&rk=1&rkt=12&sd=254480241571&itm=254480606715&pmt=0&noa=1&pg=2047675&_trksid=p2047675.c100047.m2108 Odd that they are listing all three as a package deal. As for them being empty, the bulbs and fuses are easy to come by (and they are listed in the owners manual).
Great spot on the ol Bay of E! Mine is the green bottom varient. Be interested to see the earlier cars and whay they came equiped with?
Here are photos from random earlier posts, Mostly from Joe and one exceptional/mint LP400 example from Leo. Seems LP400 and LP400S variants had different style pots (this, assuming these are all original). Yet, interestingly, one of the earliest found kits shown below (from an LP400 round kit) is sporting two Philips blue/yellow pots. And this photo, from an original LP400 owners manual (crazy rare, by the way), seems to clearly show the blue/yellow Philips pots as well. Image Unavailable, Please Login
Well, these didn’t last long. A lesson for those out there that are seriously looking to build an authentic Countach tool kit - when items pop-up, grab them quickly.
Here’s one of those very rare opportunities. If you’ve been searching for a solid kit, now is your opportunity to jump on this: https://rover.ebay.com/rover/0/0/0?mpre=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.ebay.com%2Fulk%2Fitm%2F133315948879
Not wishing to knock this kit, but based on info in this thread there seem a lot of items within that are clearly at odds with the norm.
I agree, however, finding a complete, fully correct Countach tool kit it very rare. This kit can get someone about 70% there, then can fill in the rest with acquired pieces.
i agree i think even closer to 100% correct is missing gloves but for the rest a VERY good start! and i think asking is not super hi to!
Interesting tool kit from a 5000S posted by Joe in the “Ultimate Supercar” thread. Variations, such as the red translucent screwdrivers, are very cool. Image Unavailable, Please Login
Some have contacted me about how to obtain the leather working gloves. Unfortunately, the original gloves that came with tool kits (with the "Nuova Lamborghini" logo on them) are very difficult to find; however, if you're not extremely particular, it is very easy to acquire the Diablo leather working gloves. It is my understanding that these gloves can be ordered at a dealer from the parts department. You can also fine them here: New - https://www.partscollector.com/en/mostraArticolo.php?IDArticolo=6373 Used -https://rover.ebay.com/rover/0/0/0?mpre=https://www.ebay.com/ulk/itm/324041534642 Used -https://rover.ebay.com/rover/0/0/0?mpre=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.ebay.com%2Fulk%2Fitm%2F223929716339
Another opportunity for anyone needing an original Philips bulb and fuse pot. The contents are rather easy to find and I’m happy to help anyone source the correct bulbs and fuses: https://rover.ebay.com/rover/0/0/0?mpre=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.ebay.com%2Fulk%2Fitm%2F254487286440 https://rover.ebay.com/rover/0/0/0?mpre=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.ebay.com%2Fulk%2Fitm%2F254486819015
I believe that's what mine is supposed to look like. I have the double strap bag, the jack, the jack spanner, and a curved wheel brace not pictured. I'm pretty much starting from scratch.
