Just thought i'd start a post on my 2nd favorite lamborghini ever made. Will this be the most expensive lamborghini ever sold at auction? https://rmsothebys.com/en/auctions/pa20/paris/lots/r0078-2015-lamborghini-veneno-roadster/843869 it looks a lot better than the last one that sold https://www.motor1.com/news/373828/most-expensive-lamborghini-auctioned-veneno/ but then again, the economy the last two weeks have been a little rough financially. im guessing someone that had $8m+ to spend on a car might still be able to float it though.
It will be very interesting to see how the economy affects that auction, and higher-value modern specials such as this one for example. I predict market conditions will affect this car quite a bit. Time will tell!
a month or two ago i'd be sure this one would sell more than the other. now i have no clue. for some crazy reason i actually thought there was a veneno auction between the white/cream one and this one that didn't hit reserve and was around $5m. i must be crazy though because i can't find that one.
You realize the auction already happend over a month ago on February 5th? The seller expected @ €4,500,000 but it high bid to €3,950,000, not enough, so it was a no sale. Personally, I think the virus concerns will pass, humans have resilience and we are fighting it diligently, meanwhile I think the stock market emptying out is always great for tangibles such as classic cars, rates are low and opportunities abound.
this makes me feel both better and worse. I remember looking up the auction and seeing that the bid wasn't enough, but for some reason thought I was looking at RM's next auction. can I blame it on my 3 year old keeping me up? hahaha so still, under 4 million euro, and the market hadn't even tanked at that time.
Perhaps I need to explain to you that the 8m Euros for the awful-liveried white/tan Veneno was under very unusual circumstances which I won't post about publicly, that said @ 4m Eu is what it takes to get one of these. Meanwhile the stock market was long overdue for a tanking, and a significant percentage of that money will come into classic cars when the world has healed itself a bit, so bear in mind that a tanking of the stock market often helps the classic car market as the money looks for tangibles, we've seen this in every cycle over the last 30 years.
I should add that in my Private Treaty world, I am aware of a black with red accents Veneno that has changed hands a few years ago for more than 8m Eu.
im guessing thats the one supposedly in switzerland after being delivered to germany (at least that's what the internet rumors are). the only other black ones im aware of is the one currently in dubai but i think thats black exposed carbon. the idea of $4m+ modern cars is something i'll never fully comprehend. its in a league way above my pay grade. that cream veneno goes for euro 8m. a red and black one for over euro 8m. This one didn't sell for half that. there is a horrible looking two tone blue centenario that i think didn't sell recently. and a nice "hawaiibrad" centenario in blue that was listed and never sold that im aware of for essentially sticker price. and as much as i love the red accented coupe at lamborghini long island, im not sure id take it over a pair of miura SV. i mean for $8m you could probably get a miura SV, aventador SVJ, aventador SV, diablo SV, and whatever countach you'd consider the SV equivalent and have a pretty amazing set.
