Hi Joe, hope you are well. just for the record this car was changed to black / black with polished wheels and tinted windows by the previous owner Mark, sadly the previous owner pasted away and Mike purchased the car. before the owner pasted away he was in discussions with Mike to have the engine rebuilt, suspension restored and some other chassis work done. we have now completed all the restoration work Mark wanted done and the car is in great order but Mike decided to keep the black on black as a salute to Mark as the car is very well know in the UK with its old A6GRO number plate. he did remove the tint on the windows tho!
Thank you for this clarification and update, I'm sure it is a beautiful thing and I'm sure the current owner is proud of it. The mods as I remember them to be were paint color change, leather color change, polished wheels, blacked-out windows, turn-signal lens white/black modification etc. On the other hand, GLA12942 is pretty much exactly as it left the factory down to it's P7 tires, and in beautiful condition too, and this was the point I wanted to make.

The famed Car & Driver issue you reference, as you well know, was what framed my personal view of the idyllic Countach. I still have both copies that I originally purchased from Save On Drug store in Bloomfield, MI in 1986 - one to preserve in perfect condition, and one to constantly look at and read. Not surprisingly, for anyone that knows me, both magazines are still in perfect condition today. HA
I understand you orignal points, I was responding to your second comment that Carrera Sport had restored and carried out the non standard modifications on the A6GRO car. i was clarifying this had been done around 30 years ago by the previous owner and Mike has kept Black / black so if he decides to sell it one day the new owner can choose to keep it like this, restore it back to factory colours or change the colour as they wish. Personally I love the history and current colour scheme. There is no denying GLA12942 is a lovely car and in perfect condition.
Just came across this on the old tube of you. Alas I can't speak Japanese but good historical of the 88½ QV production at the factory. Sorry if a repost? R
I met the first owner at a Silverstone event and took him for a ride in my Countach which I brought that day. Speaking of Silverstone, here is GLA12995 at that circuit, this Downdraft was originally black with black leather and red piping, I believe it remains that way today, I remember the first owner of this car also, quite a character! Afaik HLA12060 resides since 2016/2017 in Canada. Anybody here has contact to the owner? I found the original service book of the particular car.
