Countach engine and engine bay refresh

    Got the lines routed from the engine bay to the front and up behind the heater matrix, I assume they pop out at the end of here and route around the headlamp motor, for whatever reason however on my car there is a hole further up in the liner panel that they both pass through which gets the lines close to the upper wishbone, will get a picture posted up as I don't think it is right.

    I believe the hoses should exit on top of the chassis rail and loop under the headlight headlamp lifting motor not through the hole that is currently there, can understand why this is so as the stainless braided hoses fitted previously would not be flexible enough to make that bend, the new ones are.     I think you are correct, they definitely go up on top. Mine are hidden by the inner fender well.

    I would reroute them properly.
    The wheel / tire may rub on them while turning and they could rupture.
    If this were to happen you would dump hot oil inside the wheel well all over the tire and brakes.
    Not good, as you not only could loose traction you also have a fire hazard as well as the possibility of starving the engine for oil.

    Thanks for the info, yes I will re-route, Image Unavailable, Please Login I think they come over the chassis rail between the plates by the headlight motor are, and then are fully guarded by the inner wheel house panel.

    I would guess the holes are to attach the holders for the oil hoses.

    The hoses are fully guarded by the inner wheelhouse. There is no visible hose when I look up at mine, which is on a lift.

    Just taken off one of the inlet cam sprockets as was curious as to part number as I have inlet cams with approx 10.5mm lift. Seems a strange number? Image Unavailable, Please Login

    Curious as to what the 009 is at the end of the number? Exhaust cams are 007. Looks as if original numbers from part book have been replaced by new ones. Image Unavailable, Please Login

    From everything I have seen the 13171 is a standard European spec cam. The other part numbers listed could be FI cams. I don't know what the 009 is, it is not common but some manufactures list the print revision number in the part number.

    They seem higher lift than standard as I believe inlet were 9.5mm valve lift and exhaust was 8.4mm, these are more like 10.5mm inlet and 9.5 exhaust even accounting for lash adjustment.

    The part number is stock but they could be reground to a new profile. I have measured three sets of cams taking a measurement every 5 degrees so I have some good data. One set is a custom grind that was done by Iskydarian (spelling?), it was an emissions profile for a FI engine. They made 3 sets of cams in late 1984 for Lamborghini of North America. One set was a standard European spec I believe it is the part number you have. The last set is a custom grind with a higher lift and a shorter duration. The isky cam had it's identification vibropeened on the cam between cylinders 5 and 6. You had to look close to see it. Your photo shows the stock identification. The custom high lift cam is vibropeened on the same surface as the factory part number. My recommendation would be to look the cams over for signs of identification from a regrind. Follow up on the identification if you find it. Next I would double check the lift measure, if it is still high I recommend plotting the complete lift profile taking measurements every 5 degrees. I recommend every 2 degrees for the take up ramp. You will need the ramp data to establish the valvelash you need.

    Possibly, just keeping things moving forward is hard enough in the present unfortunate climate. On my 308 with the nail head valves picked up close to an 18% improvement.

    45's, for some reason whoever rebuilt the carbs last time has taken the bottom parts off so the additional spray was not in the airflow - very odd
