And this, from an LP400S. Very complete, but needs a little refurbishment. Still, I wish they didn’t make the change from the rounded kit found with the earlier LP400 variant.

    they had to
since the LP400 spare wheel is a full size one and LP400s is a "thin" spare wheel and you cannot fit the LP400 round thick toolkit in that :(

Certainly, that is the practical/functional reason why they changed the kit. Still, it would have been great if they continued with the design, regardless. It was cool.

Always interesting to see the many examples of tool kits that came out of Lamborghini throughout the Countach era, very few being consistent. If one assumes that this is an original kit, it’s interesting that it contains a T bar spanner and a hammer, both items associated with 5000S kits and not QV’s. This seemingly mint example is included with the 86 QV Downdraft listing at DK Engineering in the UK.

This kit does not appear original to me.

Vince - you may be right. It’s hard to say for certain. If it is original, the condition is superb. It’s also challenging to be certain because the tools are not completely visible and some are not visible at all (jack, belts, bulb/fuse pot, gloves, fuse spanner). The bag, pliers, wrenches screwdrivers and jack arm seem correct from the little I can see. The missing items could very likely be in the side pockets. The biggest unusual discrepancy I can tell is the attached T bar spanner, which is not commonly found in any Countach kits, and the hammer, which is part of the 5000S kit but not the QV kit. I say commonly, because we’re talking about Lamborghini from the 80’s here and virtually anything is possible.

The bag is the giveaway for me. The creases are not deep and set, as they would be if the bag were old. Even if it was stored perfectly, the vinyl hardens with age and the creases become pronounced and set. That's not the case with this bag. It's pretty clearly a new bag. That throws the rest of the toolkit into question for me.

No doubt, you could be right. But, it is possible that the bag/kit could have just been stored and cared for that nicely from birth. For example, here is my bag. Granted, I was highly fortunate to find a very rare NOS tool kit that was stored properly, but it isn’t unprecedented. The thing that suggests to me that it very well could be original are the three left side rivets. The true test would be if the snaps have the “Fiochi” inscription on them. Anyhow, fun, if not mundane, observations.

What the deal with the hammer in the QV toolkits? I see many toolkits with no hammers and some with hammers. Did the Qv had a hammer? If so, was it specific to Euro cars?
I also have 2 siminlar wrenches 17/13 marked "chrome vaniadium. Most are marked "Unior lsi" but Isaw a toolkit here with chrone vanadium. Was this legit?
I could swap my 2nd 13/17 wrench for my missing 10/8. there are both like new.

While I have seen some QV tool kits with hammers, I suspect they were either added by previous owners at some stage, or possibly very early QV models because 5000S tool kits did have hammers. None of the three QV owners manual variations list hammers as part of the tool kit contents. For more details regarding your questions, I would encourage you to review the following:

    - Hammers - Page 1 of this thread, specifically posts 2, 3, 10 and 16

    - Wrenches - Page 4 of this thread, specifically post 76

Also, your car and mine are extremly similar because they are both 85's, produced very near to one another. So, I'm confident that my research and observations related to my own car will apply to yours as well. If you decide you would like a hammer, they are not difficult to find and I can help you. Happy to chat further, if you like.

    I don't think original.
Inside is not whitish. the first 4-5 small inserts for tools should not go all the way down to the bottom part of the tool kit (edge)

The toolkit you have posted, from the QV advertised. Interesting as it appears to have the middle east airbox config, but was delivered new to California?

If one takes the sales description at face value, than my assumption is that it was made for the Middle East (clearly, because of the air box) but was diverted to the US. Or, maybe it was delivered to the Middle East, never titled, and then sent into the US. Who knows. I don’t doubt that all kinds of things took place back then. It does have the US side indicators, so it clearly went thru some DOT transformation. By the way, it has a very odd exhaust valance. Interesting how these things happen over the years.
