New liners arrived from westwood liners, the new bearing shells from Lamborghini less so, 3 bearings will need to go back due to excessive burrs, chipping and contamination of the surface...... less than impressed. Image Unavailable, Please Login

They should be new as were no back order for quite a while, zero care for quality control both at the manufacturer and Lamborghini, this is why I generally source aftermarket as quality and materials are generally far superior to factory spares.

I would bet these were NOS, check for the VW sign (Vanderwell - not Volkswagen) since they were the original supplier back in the days.
And you are right, aftermarket is in many cases much better quality.

Yes they are Vandervell for the mains, will see how Eurospares/Lamborghini react as not willing to accept these parts.

The correct ones for the Countach engine is the one on the right as they were especially made for this engine.
The reason they are not like the ones on the left which protrude into the venturi area of the carburetor, is because at high RPM's the engine can start to siphon additional gas through that style accelerator pump jet and cause a overly rich mixture.
Do not lose the ones on the right as I doubt you will ever find them unless you know someone at the Lamborghini factory.
Furthermore they are the ones that need to be in the carburetors because of the reason mentioned.

    Sincerely Vic

Last of 4 nos bearings obtained that are getting very hard to find, this one a bargain at 49euros. Pistons finally on the way so hopefully only a few weeks away from it all going back together. Image Unavailable, Please Login

Busy day today, heads dropped off for guides and seats and new higher compression pistons from cps in Italy, great job and quite quick turn round, quite a bit lighter too.

  14. Nice. Reducing rotating mass is good.

Hopefully will have all the bits back in 4-5 weeks so re-assembly can begin, the pistons were bought via MV Special parts in Italy who provided great service and did all the interface with CPS to avoid any language problems, contact there is Max who speaks perfect English, from order to pistons arriving was 3 weeks.

Simon your projects are always excellent to follow. I remember when this car was painted.

  22. The 928 Alt did not fit on my 5000s. Much bigger.

Oddly I saw an Opel Cadet yesterday. Have not seen one for years. Pretty cool design.

Engine work progressing slowly, all valve guides now out, will be getting new ones custom made. As it's an early car the guides are cast iron. Image Unavailable, Please Login
