I'm glad there are all sorts of people who appreciate that, because to me - I don't like it. But at times I think cars are like babies. We say they're beautiful to the parents even though we really don't think so.
The original livery was Rosso Siviglia / Nero. One of the great things about Lamborghini of the period was they offered so many different livery combinations, in fact anything you wanted, something to please all different tastes. I appreciate unusual liveries especially if done by the factory, I recall this Downdraft finished in Pearl White paint with light Green leather (image from Supercarnostalgia) which I found striking in person but was not universally loved. Another interesting livery which I liked was this Grigio Speciale/Bordeaux example, HLA12122. Image Unavailable, Please Login
A better view of HLA12122's interior, unique but perhaps not for everyone. Image Unavailable, Please Login
Yeah - I'd be in the not loved camp. I'm the same on the BMW forums with Individual cars - I do not like something just because it's different or unique, I like it because it like it - or not. I do like the pearl white though.
Yeah, I'm in this boat too. I think the new trimmed interior would look good with white exterior. But not the red. However, as we always say on this and other forums, their car, their choice! R
I’m very traditional about my livery choices, but I do always enjoy seeing some of the more unusual colors, as long as they aren’t mine. Still, I have no interest in colors that aren’t the original spec on the car. I’m a purist. When a car is restored, it should be to it’s factory original scheme.
interesting choice ,knowing it is Not done for original back to factory spec reasons, the excution of the work ,looks absolutely stunning.
Colors are an interesting topic, here are my thoughts: The only color that matters is the one on the car you own, that's the only one you have to love, and, beauty is (always) in the eye of the beholder. I agree that the basic premise that the cars should remain in the livery that the left the factory in, that is the ultimate nod of respect and approval of the work of the original artisans, and the cars are becoming far too valuable to not be allowed to exist the way they were born. I will say this - Lamborghini's appeal is all about the wide spectrum of color palette they offered, I speak to this in my Miura book, unique colors are important for this marque. I think that a livery can be both rare and beautiful (though of course not always), I certainly feel that way about my own car, that said, I myself like a wide range of liveries the factory did. If a car has an unusual livery but exists in nice well-kept unmodified form, I'll probably like it. That aside, it should be noted that in the marketplace for Lamborghinis (Ferraris, Porsches and many other makes besides also), a unique or rare livery often commands a significant premium as it speaks to rarity, collectibility and therefore value.
Another view of the interior of FLA12817 and it's new upholstery. The work is done by https://www.mototechnique.com/trim "All the interior trim work that comes to Moto Technique is carried out by the award winning O’Rourke Coachtrimmers who are respected by many people in the trade as being one of the very best, if not THE best coach trimmers in the World." FLA12817 is also one of the cars that have the Bull logo on the rear discolored from black to silver. I was wondering if this car recently seen with plates 77 GT is the same car? Image Unavailable, Please Login
To me,a color change would be ok if the restoration is total, Dugan style, after all, the original color was the original owners choice, not the factory or their craftsmen. the color change would have to be time period correct. Not necessarily a Lamborghini color.iow i would be ok to paint An 86qv in a mid 80s Mercedes dark green, I would Absolutely Not be ok if painted in 2002 Verde Itacha.
Same car. I have noticed that many of the early 1985 production cars have bull badges where the paint has not adhered to the badge, obviously a batch of badges not properly coated as used on the early production cars.
