I looked at that car before the auction. Cosmetics were great inside and out, but that car needs 30 grand of service. The brake fluid has never been changed, so now the calipers need to be rebuilt, motor mounts and just about all rubber bushing are shot. No doubt the engine needs to be pulled and resealed. If the engine coolant is as bad as the other fluids then there will be corrosion …probably the heads will need a lot of work. Now having said that, I will also say that all this is very manageable.

The vast majority of Countachs you'll encounter need work, some a little, many a lot.

Someone should do a summary of prices for all the models for 2021, haven't seen that in a while. I took a quick look only and it seems you can't touch any pre-89 Countach for under 500K these days.

Bear in mind that asking is not getting, that said, values are up.

No need to update, public sales are all documented here https://www.classic.com/m/lamborghini/countach/, private sales results often contain outlier results as in truth many of the best cars are conveyed that way and they do bring significantly more in a market of their own. The downside about private sales for the general public wanting a benchmark is that the results are (as the name suggests) private, and the participants often don't want the results shared. Regardless, at this point, if a really nice and correct example of any variant were to come to the market the result would be strong.

My observation from recent sales , . Marshall Goldman ,aprox one mont ago. 88 qv fuelie black tan. Lasted 1 week on their site. Sold at full ask acc to seller. 395K.
Black /tan 87 fuelie in Italy. Listed as sold in yellow bold letters across the ad. 440k$
Strange to see a fuelie in Italy, but somebody wanted it,Auto scout 24. Aprox a month ago. Tried to find the ad this morning, but listing is no longer there. Recent anni sale Monterey 365$ Its interesting, every year the owner of a small north east dealership calls me to buy my car. Nice guy. I never ask what he will offer based on i have no intentions to sell, This year i will ask, (absolutely no interest selling)curious to hear what in his mind this market is doing.

Maybe let's try to dig up that interesting topic...

What in your opinion is the capital loss for a non matching numbers LP400S ?

    For a non matching colours LP400S ?

And for both, non matching numbers and colours LP400S ?

Finally, for an LP400S fitted (with 1985 original invoice) 5000 engine ?

You have understood that am looking for one of these, and would not want to be hang up...

    Thx.

Wow, this thread laid dormant since Sept 2021?
I am no expert but color...period correct color will not lose much value. Then again, depends who did it and how well.

Fully documented paint job just made by an Italian Specialist for 30.000€.

But strictly no evidence of when, why, and who did the change of engine while we normally have all the history since 1995.

That's to say, no history between 1980 and 1995.

Current engine just fully rebuilt, so as have been suspensions, steeering, brakes...

and 1121296 which was unfortunately repainted from its original rosso to Tahiti blu and has engine 1121198 which doesn't belong to this car at all.

Seeing as there has not been any real data shared in this thread for a few years I would ask what the current price ranges are for the following cars:

    LP400
    LP400S Series 1
    LP400s
    LP5000
    QV
    Anniversary

I'm thinking of purchasing a LP400 or early 400s and am most curious about those prices but it would be nice to know the current actual transaction values from some of the experts here.

I will qualify that I am VERY familiar with what is involved in owning a 70's Italian sportscar and have realistic expectations. I am very comfortable doing my own work and realize that even the best example will need fettling and sorting. What I am just not interested in at this stage of my life is a full blown restoration. Been there and done that to a 100 point standard and am just not inclined to take on that kind of project for the time being.

Also I am not at all afraid of buying in another country and taking on the responsibility of importation. I'm happy to look anywhere in the world provided the car is LHD (not interested in driving on the right side of the car :) )

Do you think LP400S S2 and S3 have the same value ?

An S2 is more comparable to an S1 than an S3.
