I'm not so sure about that Emilio, my friend. Our keeping/maintaining these special vintage heroes, only serves their selling of the heritage. And to be fair - they've been alot more amicable about the old parts these past few years, what with their revitalizing manufacture of some previously discontinued parts. And then of-course there is their Polo Storico unit...
I think the concept of "Countach" was missed on this car. The Countach was a car that turned the car world on its head. Instead of a rebodied Aventador, with so few made, go to the basic principles of the Countach... 1. Yes, use the amazing chassis of the Aventador (keep the inboard suspension, brakes, etc). 2. Put in the correct Bizzarrini Murcielago SV motor (The best version of the Bizzarrini v12), 12 throttle bodies and vertical trumpets, ramp that up to 800hp, 9000 rpm redline and screaming 4 tip titainium exhaust. 3. Cap it off with a manual transmission. Now we are talking about a over the top excessive, against the grain, crazy, intimidating supercar that is a real homage to the original and would have again turned the car world on its head. If Lamborghini built this, I would have fainted.
I’m not one of those who hates modern supercars. I’m a big fan of many of them, but this is absolutely horrid. I’m not a fan of reinterpreting great cars from the past, but regardless, the car is hideous. It’s sad they put the Countach name on it.
Hideous is a strong word. Not sure it fits this car. Might not be your idea of a NEW Countach, but hideous, as in absolutely just shoot me , is imho not a good description, it looks the part of any new Lambo. Hideous, it is not.
I must disagree here. I do not think hideous is strong enough for how this car looks. I would call it a hideously ugly abomination! Regards
Given that there are clearly many who do like it, I suppose the term, “to each there own”, rings clear. Everyone is entitled to there opinion.
I absolutely agree with you. everyone IS entitled to their own opinion. What I would find interesting is a poll to determine of those who find this design attractive; how old they are, what is their history with Lamborghini and do they currently or have they in the past owned any Lamborghini's? Regards
Thinking about it (again), I think we all deserve to see it in different colors. Silver comes to mind. But if they are truly using period correct colors, then I'd like to see them all.
This new car has actually saddened me, even more so than I had feared. I might have been able to accept it if it was called the Aventador LPI 814-4 Countach 50º, but I will never consider it a Countach. Why, oh why did they have to do the Countach and all the men behind it this injustice?! As Gandini's wife so eloquently wrote on Facebook: A homage? To whom?
Then again - could have been worse. We've only got a handful of these to stomach and at multi-million dollar pricing to boot. Imagine what's been going on over at the Shelby Mustang Registry ever since Ford slapped Mustang Mach-E on that electric crossover. Eesh.
I think you nailed it. A Countach successor? Not a chance. Hideous? No, if marketed as a “New” Supercar, it fills the blanks brilliantly. Actually, cleaner and simpler than most be winged spoileretted (poss not a word) than most. In the right color, its a good looking new car, just take the”Countach” out of it.
Noooooo!?!? Really? That speaks volumes. That's like that microphone drop people do these days....oof

In case ya'll missed it, the wheels of the press car already have some damage https://lamborghinichat.com/forum/news/new-lamborghini-countach-doesnt-escape-monterey-without-some-damage.785/
Ok, as a 12 year owner of an LP500 Countach, (my old Countach went through several hands and is now the one currently on Cats Exotics) I have to weigh in on this. IMHO Lamborghini doesn't make ugly cars. Having said that, this is a pretty nice looking car but it is NOT a Countach. It should be called a Countador. It is a terrible attempt to cash in on a past glory. The situation reminds me of a film studio doing a remake of a clssic movie. The new one rarely lives up to the original. Steve
Well explained. And agreeable in theory. But once rendered. Some changes looked goofy. Bubble chin. Too much erea from head light upper edge to top f fender. Rear wheel arch to small. Fromt end side profile looks great. Rear does not. Poss more Countach looking. But kinda goofy.
Two things stand out as very wrong with the car: obviously the name, which is pretentious without a 'Tributo' or 'Hommage' suffix and the design which is overall very bland and even boring. Almost all of Frank Stephenson's comments are aimed at making the car more exciting and dramatic. Does not really bode well for the Aventador successor (I am not a fan of Mitja Borkert's retro-smooth design language), but we'll see.
Given this was designed off the prototype, and not the later winged cars with flared guards, I can see why it's "bland and very boring" - the prototype was a much more simple streamlined design. Image Unavailable, Please Login
I love all Countach variants, but, to me, it really isn’t complete without the wheel arches, etc., the Quattrovalvole being the best example. Certainly, much has to do with the period when I first developed my love for the car, which was the early to late 80’s. The LP400 had no influence on me at that age. Of course, as I’ve grown, my admiration for it has grown considerably. As I’ve often said, the one thing I wish Lamborghini maintained from the LP400 is the periscopio. Regardless of its ultimate functionality, it’s just plain cool.
Likewise, and my inner man-child demands that the car have that ridiculous wing too otherwise it's just not the Countach that I know and love. But at the same time, I appreciate this one for it's simplicity. In my view modern hypercars are becoming too winged and scooped and finned and flared - there's just angles and aero going in all directions. There was another car at The Quail I quite liked for it's more simple form, and it was by one of the design houses - can't remember which. Image Unavailable, Please Login
