It will be with me in MN very shortly after a substantial refreshening. I’ll be sure to post some pics in the DD room.
Well Your old Anniv car is still doing well, performing great. My buddy owns it and that is it in the picture with mine on the grass on the previous page.
Great to hear, Ken. I spent quite a few bucks to make it right as your friend will have seen from the recent service receipts!
i purchased this Alpine to replace the JVC that is in my ANniversario I would like to have a more period cassette deck. thoughts? Image Unavailable, Please Login
Are you asking if this is this is the stock deck that is correct for your car, or are you still searching the correct one? Wasn’t sure what you’re asking.
would this deck look out of place, worth installing even though its not the stock one that came from the dealership.
Better than a JVC! This is an Alpine 7180 and even if it's not the one that came with your car 98% of people don't know the difference so it won't look out of place.
Got it. No, it wouldn't look out of place. It's period correct, and it's an Alpine. That said, if you're very focused on having the precise Alpine variant that's correct for your car, with patients, it can be sourced. Im also pretty certain that 25th’s had a CD player upgrade option (model 7903). Happy to help you, if you like.
It may be impossible for him to know "the precise Alpine variant that's correct" for his car unless an image exists of his dashboard when it was new, or the previous owner recalls what Alpine model number it was, because Lamborghini did not record which precise Alpine variant they put in which car. Most USA spec cars of course got the Alpine 7903 Compact Disc or an iteration thereof as we all know, but some Tipo USA cars did get the 7279 or 7284 Stereo Cassette. The Tipo USA 25th's Anniversary's window sticker explicitly says: "Alpine AM/FM Stereo Cassette or compact disc", in other words Lamborghini SpA themselves officially declared that there was random application of Alpine components during production, obviously for logistical reasons. Therefore, what's correct for one car, may not be correct for another. The 7180 unit he has is similar to the 7279 or 7284 so I don't think it matters until he actually finds out what originally came with the car. Either way, there's no secret to sourcing the aforementioned Alpine units, they're available periodically on EBay and with a number of vintage stereo specialists that service the classic car industry. Here's the unit that came with the majority of USA 25ths. Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login

7903 and 7284, both in Tipo USA cars. Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
7279 in non other than Lee Iaccocca's 25th Annivesario KLA12648 as inspected by myself at the erstwhile Platinum Motors here in Orange County in 1996. Image Unavailable, Please Login
It should be noted that the CD variant sometimes came with manuals for a Stereo variant, and vice versa, precision was optional at Lamborghini. Image Unavailable, Please Login
No Alpine no problem. I'm aware of 2 cars that came with radio-delete from the works with the space used as a mini-glovebox. Image Unavailable, Please Login
OK, so as others have mentioned, its period so will look fine. It's a face off model (you can remove the front with the tab top left ) which looking at the pictures that Joe has supplied, matches other units in other cars. With regards to CD head unit. You probably have more CD's than you have tapes knocking about The setup is a little bit more involved than a tape deck. As the Alpine CD head units have no in-built amp unlike the Tape units. If you check your 7180, it may well state on a sticker that it has 2 x 6w or more. So you can slot this in, connect to the speakers and job done. For the CD units, they need external amp units. How do I know this, well . . . Here is my 7902 CD head unit. I believe that the 7902 is a higher end unit than the 7903, when you compare buttons and functions. I'm checking with my audio guy as when I brought this some time ago, he said he had the matching 50w amps, that connect via big old fashion 5 pin DIN connects you can see in the bottom pic. In the New Year, I'll connect it up to a power source, test and will throw it on ebay. As ever, Alpine kit is gorgeous! R Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
Great detail and information. This is where I get the most value from these forums. Hopefully he can find a period image of his dash.
