I wonder if they remanufactured a new engine or if they re-used some existing engine that they rebuilt?

A well-known major Lamborghini collector for many years, has everything you'd consider special, and more besides like Miura Roadster, Marzal etc. owns our former S1 1034.

That was the general idea, good thing Villa D'Este got pushed back this year, normally it's in the spring.

Remanufactured a new engine? Not sure I understand what you mean.

The Road & Track article states: For mechanical components such as the drivetrain, original Lamborghini spare parts were used. If spare parts weren't available, they were simply created from scratch.

There would not have been a spare LP500 engine of 4971 cc (or would there?). So I too would like to know whether the engine is a new scratch built one of the correct internal dimensions or if an already built/used engine from a 3929 cc LP400/LP400S or a 4754 cc LP500S was used, and further if the internal dimensions were modified to 4971 cc?

I meant scratch built a new engine. Miurasv gave me a hint thanks to the Road&Track article, thanks!

And I have the same questions as he has, what is the engine's internal dimensions? What parts were scratch built, what parts were taken from an existing engine, etc...

Plus I would like to know if Lamborghini tried to solve the cooling issues due to the lack of scoops and vents in this early pure version!

I would like to see photos of the engine, as well as the information discussed above. At least we can hear it roar. The video is nice, looks like a modified 400 but I'm no expert

It's so clean and spotless. I like it but something inside of me wants the car dirty and roughed up by testing and testing over mountain roads.

Secondly, now that he had the car created, will he recreate the crash test? You know, now that history is repeating itself

The speedo needle appears to be stuck at about 140 km/h in the video here.

I don’t think that’s a stuck needle. The actual needle might be just barely visible to the left of it pointing down into the lower left of the dial. My guess is the needle your seeing is the “highest speed indicated” needle which could be similar to how G metres in some aircraft work. This might reflect the car being a recreation of a test vehicle where that sort of indication and reading might be important in that environment.

Yes that is a nice shot and best angle I have seen. I was more talking about professional still photos from Lambo themselves along with info on how they built and/or modified engine

I have not seen any clear images yet of the periscope mechanism. I'm curious to see how they manufactured it and how it compares to that one image that is floating around of the original one.

Yes, looks like there's a turn switch over the lens to zero the highest speed marker too.

It has one for the tachometer too. See here. Blink and you'll miss it.

This car is absolutely fantastic. It was a sensation when its details and pictures were released in the early '70s. I have always hoped that Lamborghini would recreate the LP500 Countach. It was the most visually stunning road car ever made imo. Congratulations to the car's owner who commissioned it.

    Spectacular.

So long as an undertaking as this is done by the mothership - I'm all for it.

However - and this is admittedly a huge stretch - can you imagine if they gave us a run of these, as-opposed to the rebodied Aventador??
