the heat shield set posted at the start has no year I mean.
Are you set on buying an original exhaust with cats? Look into buying a set of test pipes so you can delete the cats and keep the original exhaust.
I think it’s a 25th Anniversary set. They had standard heat shields I believe and while I cant identify the exact part below its serial number looks similar to Anniversary ones Image Unavailable, Please Login
That's interesting, to pass Certification, do Polo Storico want the big USA DOT bumpers on the car as well?
Mine hasn’t got them and it hasn’t been an issue. Just the silencer. Someone did get certified with the new ANSA kit though. Very wierd
Took my nephew out for a blast today! Many 7000rpm shifts while we were out! Image Unavailable, Please Login
Doing a brake fluid/flush on my car. Sunday will be my next drive. Always exiting. Will be quiet around here from this fall. Daughter is leaving for University of Texas Austin. Need to drive more.
The color changes with the light. I believe it to be the RAL paint, like used on this Miura. Yes should have been a more champagne color. At any rate, no big deal, thats a super easy thing to change. Image Unavailable, Please Login
Hmm, with the recent 88.5 BAT one its seems some near term stabilization around 600k for this model. Still a long way from the 860k 87QV. I know it was well marketed but that can only go so far. The side skirts?
My guess is that the 860 was an anomaly. Two guys wanted the same low mileage car (happened on BAT yesterday with a 348 Spider, unless you think that the market for those is $119). My best guess is market is establishing itself in the high 5s low 6s for most decent cars. Outstanding ones will fetch a premium (maybe $100-$200k). I’m very bullish (no pun intended) on the Countach market, but it won’t go straight up indefinitely.
There is no question that side skirts are not favored in the market. It is also true that restoring a countach is very complicated (now gone through 6 of them) and expensive, so if you find a good one that has a good quality DOT reversion (expensive to do right), you can easily factor in 300plus betwen a good and bad car with the DOT mess. I am very baised having owned and loved the round belly models for decades but I think anything below 1M for a good model is a good long term investment.
Agreed, the 860$ was presented as a nice ,get in and drive, for a while, with nothing major neede,to do so. not perfect by any stretch, but honest. the other 2 cars where long time or one owner cars but in need of who knows what, also full reverse , bumper deal waiting. iow both poss big service waiting.
A few questions: 1). Did all of the later cars (mine's an 88) come with Alpine head units? Mine has a Sony in it, but I assume that is after market. If so, what model was used for the 1988s? 2). Has anyone installed a backup cam / rear view camera? I always see them advertised, especially the license plate frame mounted ones, but I'm always leery of drilling holes into my Countach. I'm not a fan of the convex mirrors, but everyone seems to be telling me to get those. 3). Does anyone have the US DOT bumpers for sale?
Though there could be some exceptions, most US QV’s came with an Alpine 7273, 7284L or 7385, all of which appear on eBay fairly often. Regardless, they all came with an Alpine. As for the bumper, I recommend you try contacting Tim at Evans in Ohio. They often have pieces that were previously discarded. Hope this helps.
