Lamborghini (Polo Storico) don't do anything themselves, they sublet the work to a number of affiliates, you can go direct that way you have better input and control.

I have a red one here already, but a long story. The LP400S may migrate over the fall / winter.

 

I have learned the hard way that having the manufacturer in your corner is invaluable when you eventually want to register the car in Italy.

 

The way to have Lamborghini in your corner as you put it would be to submit your car to them for a total PS restoration at their cost ($350k plus), then maybe.

It just went Live yesterday, the good news is its a 2-week auction till August 16th.

 

Curious what became of this car? Was it ever sold?

 

The $875k high bid wasn't enough for the owner, given the current changes in the market as manifested by today's low RM results, I think time might possibly prove it was.

Comments on 1028 are: suspension sits the car too high, rear bull badge should have been removed in the repaint, rear light lens surrounds are not correct for original, items which can be corrected.

 

Nice color. The car was not detailed the engine bay is rough, the paint not finished well with lots of compound every where. The paint below the left tail light is dull. Seems it was rushed for pictures.

 

Bleu Notte is fantastic, here is 1028 when it was last auctioned in 2016 for 504k Eu https://rmsothebys.com/en/auctions/mc16/monaco/lots/r196-1978-lamborghini-countach-lp400-s-series-i-by-bertone/238772 the suspension was too high 6 years ago.

 

The consigner must have 800-900k Euro in the car considering the cost of the restoration. Wonder what it brings.

 

I don't think this was a 300k-400k restoration.

 

Blows my mind why anyone wouldn't correct these issues before putting it up for sale.

 

Especially when the resto was said to have been surveyed by Vale.

 

No way the work cost that much. I just did a LP5000S with him. Paint, interior, engine. At a fraction of that cost. The team of people he works with are excellent, but they will only do what they are asked to do.

The ride height issue is interesting. My LP5000S has different shocks than my LP400S, which uses Way Assauto units; I forget what the LP5000S uses. The LP400S originals must be very hard to find by now.
