Beautiful, which blue is that Brian? Sera? The maroon/bordeaux works well I spent several months last winter obsessing over which blue to paint my 512TR.. before that I had considered two that were blu sera.
I got a paper temp tag yesterday and put a bit over 150km on the Ferrari this morning. Just fantastic! Image Unavailable, Please Login
OMG!.... so much want... Also, sorry for the typo before. Looks like I said "blow" instead of clue (facepalm)
oh FFS I give up.... luckily I get paid for math (predictive analysis) not spelling!! I may be an idiot but Im still in love with that color combo...
@Senshi458 If I ever make it to Oslo I owe you a bottomless drink, my friend!!!!!! I loved that red/cuoio car, so I was crushed when you gave me the story about it, but I am so thankful that you saved me from a potentially catastrophic purchase. -Mark
That would be great, yeah the car look nice and color combo as Tarek say the owner know the full story so very sad not honest Hope you enjoy your car in good health, looks great
Its official! The f355 is now fully registered/titled to me here in Florida! Image Unavailable, Please Login
Congrats! But how come do you still have the french number plate? Your car is registered in US with a foreign number plate? (or you didn't change your plates yet?)
He's in Florida and that state does not require a front license plate, so you can leave the French plate as vanity.
That's really cool! I'd love to not have a front plate (especialy for avoiding speed cameras ). Here, having no front plate or a plate with a different number than the one registered = big troubles!
Reason #2: I was literally at the DMV in that pic, so I hadnt put the plate on yet. But as far as @bjwhite said, yah, Florida doesn't require front plates and typically doesnt ticket for leaving a foreign plate on the front (I see German cars with this all the time), so for the moment I am letting it stay there reminding me that the import process was part of the journey.
As others have said in this thread, it's not easy and doesn't come without risk! Thats why I never buy sight unseen. I just got back from my fourth buying trip to Europe this year, and there is nothing like setting foot into the dealership or meeting the individual you are about to wire six figures too! I only deal with established players or contacts that I have made over the years that I trust. I can't imagine buying a car from an individual based upon his internet ad and having never met said individual. It would be so easy for said individual to keep the money and then you are faced with spending tens of thousands in international legal fees??? Good luck! Of course, after the purchase then one has to deal with titling issues that have to be done to export the car out of the country. Each country has its nuances, just like each state back in the USA is going to have their requirements to finally register the car once it arrives. Does a VIN inspection need to be done, which foreign documents have to be translated, etc. Oh and did I mention shipping??? The ports in Europe are all backed up - so your car could be sitting outside on a surface lot at port for a couple months waiting to get loaded onto the boat, or it could be baking inside a hot container for the same amount of time! I guess the moral of the story is there are currently opportunities to purchase certain Ferrari's in Europe cheaper than here in the states, but you better know what you are doing! Do your own PPI's, invest the time in seeing the car and have plenty of patience as every deal is different - it is not a simple, one time always the same process for obtaining your dream car!
