incredible engineering yes but the style just does not fit the sound. hard to believe that sound is coming from that car when it drives down straight. reminds me little bit of this incongruity. I MADE MY CHEAP MERCEDES SOUND LIKE A F1 RACECAR! INSANE $12,000 EXHAUST - YouTube
thanks for posting link. its such an incredible sound. and how about comparing the engineering of this to the amg 1. on their media day, driver had to explain why engine kept cutting out on track. over loaded battery, etc. (but still cant past this styling...)
People thought the same when the Mac F1 came out compared to a F40-50. This will do the same. Keep looking. These things are like Stereograms for a while until it all comes into focus.
So is this car good? Or is it a failure. It's very old tech..with a very old idea (the fan thing). I like it..but i fear it's just way too late to the party..
Pros are best sound ever. Na v12 with stick. Very low weight. Center driving position. Novel aero for street. Con is generic styling and high price.
What party? Yes, the fan (thing) is old but vastly improved. Gordon already used it in the same manner 30 years ago in the McLaren F1. Let's not go down the 1978 Brabham fan-car path with this. The fan did not serve the same purpose on the Brabham as it now does on the T.50...
if you watch any interviews with Gordon Murray, he states he doesn't care about numbers. His goal is 'driving perfection'. Buy a Tesla Plaid if you want numbers. Besides, THE CARS ARE ALL SOLD! .... so, NOT a failure. Jump to 3:00 for Gordon's car 'philosophy' / 7 guiding principles .
The problem with "driving perfection" as a goal is that it is super hard to quantify. It is much easier for the crowds to say: My car has a "1,000HP and goes to 60 in 1.5 sec." and therefore it is better. Ha! Light weight, V12, low rpm torque, manual, and much more, equals driving perfection/excitement to me.
