FIA president Mohammed Ben Sulayem thinks that Red Bull’s cost cap sanction was dealt with fairly this year, despite rival teams calling for "blood".
Christian Horner’s table number at the AutosportAwards. Done on purpose maybe?? Image Unavailable, Please Login
Such great support lol. Sergio Perez’s 2023 title challenge is already over, at least according to Helmut Marko who can’t see the Mexican driver challenging Max Verstappen over an entire season.
Has checo beaten Max on any weekend, ever? I mean one without any circumstances (mysterious quali crashes, tyres blowing up, no fuel in quali...)
I don't think anyone on the grid can challenge Verstappen currently let alone Checo. Leclerc is probably the closest.
There we go then...how can anyone make a statement saying Perez is a realistic shout for the title when he hasn't even beaten Max in a race in the 2 years they've been teammates.
The UNTOLD Story of Christian Horner - YouTube Nice video about Horner and his rise to F1 management stardom. Also shows how RB operates and part of the reason for their efficiency.
First report out of press on relationship with new RedBull Corporate Governance over F1 team. GP Blog rumor press - https://www.gpblog.com/en/news/165982/relationship-between-marko-and-mateschitz-s-successor-not-very-good.html 'Relationship between Marko and Mateschitz's successor not very good'
I feared that things would change at Red Bull following Dieter Mateschitz' passing, and that the new management would be the main threat to the F1 teams. It pay happend sooner than thought.
The only one who liked Marko was Mateschitz, so no surprise. Anyway, he hasn't bring any new drivers lately and actually they don't seem to care, as they're hiring outside. So if Marko wants to stick around ****ing the new bosses, they could get rid of him and nobody would notice.
Methink Honda and Red Bull have pulled the wool over the FIA eyes to obtain the engine "freeze". Red Bull Powertrains is just a smokescreen for Honda continuous supply of engines. I am surprised Mercedes and Ferrari didn't go mad over this. They probably keep that up their sleeves for later.
"What's good for the goose is good for the gander." Mercedes and the FIA did the same thing in 2014 thru 2016.
Honda has registered as a manufacturer for the 2026 PU regulations with the FIA. It doesn't specify as an engine manufacturer or as a constructor.........but most likely as an engine manufacturer. Will any other team receive the Honda PU?.....remains to be seen.
Yes, of course, if you consider the token system to have been introduced in the rules without other engine builders knowing what they accepted .
It may be only to still be part of the discussions at the FIA, without any firm commitment. My understanding is that Red Bull want to have their own powertrain from 2026.
AMuS Auto Motor Und Sport reports that Honda has signed up as the engine manufacturer for the 2026 Formula 1 season. But the Japanese no longer want to ally themselves with their current partner Red Bull. Honda is looking for a new team. Honda has obviously tasted blood again through the many successes with Red Bull. The bosses must have realized the positive effect that victories and world titles can have. And that the plug had been pulled too soon. In any case, the desire for a real return to F1 is growing at the group headquarters. The plans are now taking shape. In any case, Honda has registered pro forma for the new engine generation from 2026, although an official comeback has not yet been communicated. But you already have your foot in the door. The new engine formula with an electric content of around 50 percent and synthetic fuel for the six-cylinder combustion engine makes Formula 1 attractive again for the Japanese car giant. The main reason for the exit in 2021 was to be able to focus on the development and construction of electric cars. With the increased share of electronics from 2026, a re-entry with technology transfer can be well justified. The nomination costs one million euros per year. For a possible comeback, however, Honda will have to look for a new partner from 2026. They will no longer ally yourself with Red Bull. You would only be a junior partner there. RB Powertrains builds the internal combustion engine itself. The electrical part is not enough for Honda. Now Honda is looking for a team. You can choose between AlphaTauri, Williams, McLaren or Aston Martin. Red Bull itself could seek cooperation with the American manufacturer Ford. According to rumours, however, the new engine division will build the entire drive train on its own. Ford could step in as a financier – and operate its own marketing machine with a badge for the power unit. https://www.auto-motor-und-sport.de/formel-1/f1-motor-2026-honda-einschreibung-ohne-red-bull/
The downside of winning the F1 championship? The cost of the superlicense. Each driver/team pay a flat fee for their license, but you also have to pay upwards of $5,000 for each point scored in the previous season. Red Bull is looking at an entry fee of $6M for 2023
Honda keeps going in and out of F1 to suit themselves. Next to Renault, they are the most unreliable participant. I don't understand the FIA accepting from a manufacturer an attitude that destabilises F1. For any car manufacturer leaving F1, the FIA should impose a minimum 10-year period before they can re-inter, IMO. At least Ford, BMW or Toyota have shown more decency.
