I agree with these statements. Ferraris are meant to be driven. It’s just a bonus to know that they will keep their value over the long-term (or lose little) if one buys a used one.

Many Ferrari fans believe that only the typical racing cars (458, 488, 430, 360, …) are real Ferraris. That’s tally wrong as Ferrari builds cars for different segments and every car is a real Ferrari, just made for different markets and buyers. I’m a GT guy, therefore more attracted to models such as the California/Portofino, Roma, FF/Lusso, Daytona, 612, …

And….let’s not forget that Mr. Ferrari himself preferred driving a Ferrari with 4 seats.

Here in France, the price for the belts is 2000/2500 euros by a Ferrari specialist. I paid 1500 Euros because I know the mechanic.

Cheaper than in the United states. My wife and I were on vacation in France a few months ago (Bretagne and Paris), I’m fluent in French too. Where are you located (city or region)?

It was left outside. Guess the paint is not as durable as the German cars

I had such a great experience with my 612 on Saturday, which I think further reinforces just how amazing this car is.

I was invited by a local exotic car club to participate in a short rally in support of the "Toys For Tots" charity effort (for those not familiar, Toys For Tots is a charity that helps to provide toys to needy children during the Christmas holiday season each year). Over 25 exotic cars were in attendance...and some really nice ones, too. My car was the only 612 there (which almost goes without saying...), and the only 12-cylinder car in attendance. I was fortunate to have my wife and two daughters with me. While I chatted with the other participants, I got lots of really interesting comments such as "Wow, you have rear seats? You can take your whole family with you? You have a REAL trunk?"....etc. It was obvious to me that many of the other owners were deeply appreciative of the fact that having more than two seats allows much greater opportunities to share the exotic car experience with friends and family. And for me...I am deeply, deeply grateful to be able to share experiences like this with my family, without leaving anybody behind. Amazing!

I posted this encounter several years ago, but it bears repeating since you brought it up. My wife and I were invited to play golf with friends. When we pulled up to the bag drop a young man came around to my door and said, "I know you don't have a set of clubs in there". I said, "You're right, I have 2 sets in there!"

Now we did use smaller travel bags, but 2 full sets fit in there along shoe bags and etc.

I continue to to be amazed at the versatility of the 612…It is nearly 1000 km from Paris to Antibes and what a pleasure to drive. About 800km was me, the car, and the luggage and the last 200km was fully loaded with the better half, our son, and a family friend (they took the TGV from Paris to Aix-en-Provence).

We had, a Nuna Trvl stroller, Nuna Pipa rear facing car seat, ergobaby bouncy seat, 2 x Longchamp Pliage XL travel bags (55cm max carry on size) for the ladies, 2 x Longchamp Pliage L travel bags for my son and I, a baby bag, and a briefcase, 2 large handbags, and another bag of baby technical equipment (breast pumps, bottles, bottle heaters, etc.). And other than the ladies having to keep their handbags with them for the 90 minute drive to the rented home all of it fit properly in the trunk or in the footwell under the car seat. And we still had the toolkit, the tire pump etc in the lower compartment.

Honestly, when I had it all assembled on the floor of the parking garage i thought there was NO way it was going to fit given the awkward shapes of the stroller and bouncy seat, but the depth of the trunk with the false floor removed is revelatory. It took about 30 minutes of trial and error to get it all in without having to force anything.

A few photos from the first day…all the effort was worth it.

I've owned the only RC, Shields, Tan Daytona 456M in the US, a 1980 308 GTSi in Argento, and now a yellow Y2K 360 Modena manual with a sunroof. The only Ferrari I'm interested in at this point would be a 612 manual. Otherwise, I'm done with Ferraris. Image Unavailable, Please Login

The 612 is beautiful, but weird. Most can't quite put their finger on why it looks weird, but once you see it, you can't unsee it. The situation is that the front/mid engine configuration makes the wheelbase look unnaturally long, and puts the wheels at the very far ends of the car. It's not normal.

It's weird! But very, very cool. :)

There is one yellow manual out there. I'd rearrange my entire life to have it. :D

It is interesting that it has Daytona seats but not fender shields. I like it. Maybe one of one.

Considering the gated 612 cost $10,000 less than the F1, the $3,223 Daytona option was basically free.
