Guys, I guess it’s time to open a new thread for our beloved Scuderia in 2023. Next year is our year.. More seriously Binotto told Steiner this week that the Ferrari engine next year will be a bomb ! Hope he was talking about the performance not about an Austrian Gp lookalike.
Very sad to fear that. I met Patrick Tambay at the Winfief-Elf School in 1973; we were roughly of the same age. He was the previous year laureate, and came to coach us some weekends in support of Simon De Lautour, our instructor. . I remember him as a pleasant individual, patient, confident but approachable, a true gentleman I don't think his career reflects his talent: he was at McLaren and Renault at the wrong time. As much as I would love to see Ferrari get organized as a team and do amazing next year I would by lying to myself to believe it was really gonna happen. I think the issues in the organization of the team go way deeper than Binotto. I don't feel there is good leadership promoting a team environment inside that team. I feel there are still remittance of how it was run under the old man which was simply more of a dictatorship than team. While that worked to somehow create a cult following that still lives today, it isn't modern days road to success in sport. This is why I personally think we see the blunders that we see most weekends. I think Mercedes learned more this year than any other team on the grid. I really don't like the AMG team and do not want to see them winning races again personally but I feel for 23 it is inevitable. They will be a driving force with Horner and the RB team either slightly edging them out or playing a very closely heard second fiddle. Ferrari in my opinion will be a distant 3rd at best. That is if Mclaren doesn't give Piastri and Lando a 5% better car, because if they do then they are coming for us. Just my thoughts.
I think sensible people (including myself, of course ) do not have high expectations for next year. Upper management should have told Binotto to acknowledge and work to correct the issues in due time - letting him in denial for the whole season and firing him at the end is the recipe for going back to the start, not a way to achieve short term success. Best case is the next TP will have some years to rebuild a team and will eventually succeed - I cannot see it happen next year (although with exceptional luck, everything is possible); just hope we'll be able to see the Scuderia win again before F1 finally collapsing.
Count me as non-sensible, or eternally optimistic (probably the same thing when it comes to Scuderia Ferrari). I'll treat every race weekend the same, rooting for Ferrari (and Charles) to win.
Dear Ferrari, Any news you would like to share with me? It’s just seems that we don’t have a TP or a TD in place. This may not worry you, but it is really starting to worry me. We may have a very contradictory situation next year. A very competitive car and no real technical team direction to develop it through the year.
So we’ve seen names mentioned to replace Binotto from the boring (Vasseur) to the the ridiculous—from the immovable C. Horner to Monisha Kaltenborn (!!)—but probably two of the most eligible that no one has mentioned could be Massimo Rivola (ex-Ferrari) who has helped bring Aprilia back to the front of MotoGP and another MoyoGP alumnus—he brought a championship to Suzuki—with a couple of years of F1 experience at Alpine, Davide Brivio.
By the time the new team principal, and the rest of the staff glue together, it will be 2024 already ! With what's going on, many are reluctant to take the job, I guess.
The in- house solution is by far the best one with this context. No need to add instability from outside.
Glad I missed that Kaltenborn rumour. Imagine her in charge of Ferrari. Doesn't even understand that you can't sign more than 2 active drivers.
Which lists exactly two active drivers The third driver didn't have a clue what he was doing in F1....
