I will never forget some years ago coming down my street and seeing an XJ220 sitting at the bottom of the hill with a guy taking pictures. I couldn’t believe what I was seeing, stopped to talk to him and he was my neighbor who lived up the street. I had no idea he was a car guy and I visited his garage, he had an Aston Martin Lagonda (which I had never seen in person) and a couple other cool cars. He has since moved but that was a good day!

    I’m stating facts. My friend.
I appreciate if you can READ previous posts .
I’ve been down this road and had the car before you were born.
Going personal on me has no bearing
On the costs and as the original poster just said, he is keeping the numbers private.
It’s because whether it costs 25 grand or 100 grand it’s what he wants to do.
Call Don Law or his son the shipping from the UK now costs more than the original parts 30 years ago
Now what are you driving a
    Pinto?
    Yugo?
    Datsun B210?
    Having fun….Now smile

The issue with these expensive services arise from the fact that a lot of the XJ220's have been garage queens , and even then , the amounts that you are quoting are way over the top . Btw , servicing a garage queen Ferrari or Lamborghini for the first time will run you in the 10's of thousands . Please do not scare potential owners with exaggerated statements.
Also , regarding you last post , i believe you are old enough to know better than trying to belittle another member that you don't even know . All it does is make you look pompous and arrogant , so mission accomplished if that was your goal.

Update..got the new clutch master installed and the interior back together just enough so I could start and drive the car.

The car performed wonderfully I'm please to announce. After the road test I put it back up in the air to check for leaks etc. Belt tensioner issue is back.

So..it's back out again to try and fix this issue once and for all.

    .
 wow, ok, one last try ..... and if that doesn't work, you should have an 'unfortunate' fuel leak fire during a test drive and BURN IT TO GROUND!!!   sorry :D

I'm not really overly frustrated with it just yet. I have figured out how to get this engine out in about 3 hrs. So honestly it's not too bad. This tensioner issue is a bugger.

And it has to be fixed else the car is useless. A direct replacement unit is no longer available from Dayco so we have had to modify the next closest unit offered. Obviously it hasn't been easy as the ",swing" of the tensioner is different. My next attempt will be to modify the index pin location to move the entire assembly to a lower pivot point. I have ordered a new one to modify. We shall see.

Small up date..car has been delivered. Customer is happy with how it runs and drives. I have told him to keep a check list of issues that may arise so we can address them as they come up. The car really hasn't turned a wheel in anger in close to 20 years now..so im expecting little things will still need to be ironed out.

On another note..keep your eyes on the Porsche section for another interesting project from the same collection. It should be arriving in a couple weeks.
