Hi all -- been lurking and reading here for a while, lots of good info. I was hoping to get some advice/guidance: I'm considering getting into the Ferrari world. I'm looking at a 430 with about 20K miles on it. Couple of questions - anything I should know, in particular, in terms of things to watch out for w/ 430? Any red flags to look for? What kind of maintenance routine should I expect? What has a tendency to break? It has a new clutch and motor mounts. Other things that have been done, or issues with it, I don't yet know.

I'm doing more research and going to check it out next week. Any good input would be much appreciated!

Ccm or steel brakes- brake caliper pistons corrode and you have to buy new calipers or fit after market pistons
Upper and lower ball joints, track rod ends, tie rod ends. Exhaust manifolds.

Surely these two comments are not consistent - the first surely precludes the second ?

Since your reading seems to have missed all the other 430 buying advice threads that'd be a good place to start additional reading

Good luck with search. On top of the obvious weak points/consumables, Make sure you get a good PPI.

Great -- thanks for the resources and short cuts to relevant info, much appreciated. Some of this I had not seen before.

Best advice Over and above what I read on the chats was to set a side a chunk of money aside to deal with upgrades and unforeseens. Treat the money as spent and it won’t stress you out.

since I bought my 2006 coupe with a Ferrari dealer PPF, I’ve changed
    1. Brake hoses to braided ( preventive)
    2. Challenge headers ( preventive)
    3. Ferrari sports exhaust ( preventive)
    4. Flanblocs and bearings ( preventive)
    5. Tyres (timed out)
    6. TOB and clutch and mounts (TOB failed)
    7. Valve covers (PPI flagged)
    8. Battery ( preventive)

sold all my Porsches after I got the f430

Good list and good advice. And that's what I'm doing too -- selling the Porsches I have...if I decide to get the 430
