That one must be Garys. Mine is here at the shack getting ready for the first flight next weekend. Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
Yeah. A really cool example of a Grumman Albatross. Has flaps, lights, water rudder, everything. Water only (although allegedly you can take off and land on soft grass too). After that excellent sledge by Whom I was motivated to finish the build. All good to go now, but conditions too choppy today. Will see how the water looks in the morning, but will probably wait till we come back next weekend. Image Unavailable, Please Login
LOL. Now, THEY are toys. These things take a fair bit of skill to fly. In some ways they're more difficult than the real thing.
Look forward to the video . Be fun to make up one of those Top Flight model RCs , bit above my model skill and 100s of hours .
Yeah I'll get Chloe to video the first flight. Could be amusing if it turns out I've hooked up the controls wrong... Those Top Flight models were huge when I first got in to RC aircraft in the 80s / 90s. Took weeks to build and were bloody brilliant. As with everything, people (ie. me) are too lazy these days so most models are now like this one. But you can still buy kits, and there are a few nutters around making models from scratch. Quite the skill.
Fantastic. I love that. One of the things I'm going to do when I retire in 100 years is get a massive perfect scale Spitfire. Will probably be too scared to fly it, so I'll sit and look at it instead.
In the meantime, it was a little windy here yesterday. I stopped to record this on my way home from work. Jetstar A320 northerly wind gusts up to 40 KTS Melbourne Airport - YouTube
This what you need Steve 7/8 scale Spitfire powered by LS1 looks the part and goes fast as well. Image Unavailable, Please Login
Is that one of those Supermarine ones that are made in QLD and sold as partly completed kits? Mk 26b I think they’re called. If so I had a look around the factory about 10 years ago. They are pretty cool and perform very well.
