Keeping this simple - assuming general/average prices, and not taking into account storage space, insurance, or maintenance (for 2 cars vs 1). And the fact that current prices seem to closely support this scenario.

Would you rather have one 360 & one 430, or just one 458?

    I would take two 360 over a 458.

If both are F1 then I would get the 458 ..

If the 360 was stick and the f430 was a late model F1 ..I would probably choose the two

Well I am currently- and have been for the last 8 years- a two-Ferrari guy. Your post excludes the factors associated with multi-car ownership so putting all that aside I would take the 360+430 combo over a single 458. And I currently own a 458 Spider so can attest to how fantastic they are- But IMO if you are ok with the storage/insurance/registration/maintenance costs of two cars then I've always gone that route and enjoy the ownership dynamics of owning multiple cars

I could sell/trade all my cars (458 Spider/355 GTS/911 GT3 Touring/Plum Crazy Manual Hellcat) and get ONE super-special and/or rare car like a Pista or Speciale and save a bunch on all the peripherals but enjoy owning multiple cars.

    Cheers

I’m exactly the same way. Enjoy mixing it up with different cars. Which is why I buy “drivers” (only way I can afford it since I dont like loans on my “toy” cars). My only hesitation is that the 360 and f430 are similar in terms of ethos and look. If one were a manual though I’d go for the combo over one 458.

Definitely the combo of a manual 360 + 430 F1 over 458 would be an easy choice IMO.

OP- Why not also consider a F1 360 + 599? That way you DEFINITELY mix it up and total spend is about the same assuming you are ok with some miles (which to me is preferable anyway).

360 F1 + 599 will put you at $240k- $270k so given current and future/stable 458 prices it is fairly aligned.

Just a suggestion- To @Scottslaw point 360 F1s and 430 F1s are quite close in a lot of respects.

    Cheers

I started in an Italia and now have a Speciale. Have driven my friends F430 but have not had any time in a 360.

I think the jump from the F430 to the 458 is a big leap in regards to the car you get and would recommend driving them if you can.

    458 is my vote.

The difference can also be very microchip vs mechanical if you think or feel about it, the F430 and 360 is quite a bit more raw, probably because its just older!

Following Boba Fett's comments about driving 'engagement' ...

Newbie here and had the chance to buy a MINT gated 360 and an F12 ... could have afforded either, but when we put them back to back, the wife and I both chose the 360 based on classic clean look, gated shifter and the 'feel' the car gives you... And ask me before seeing them together in person that I would have made the same decision .. hell no ! On paper I would have chosen the F12

    Cheers

My vote is for the 458 even though I have an F430. Love my 430 though and don’t see us ever getting rid of it.

depends on what other cars you have...

If you want a more traditional Ferrari feel, then manual 360. If you want a little more modern but traditional Ferrari, then a later F430 F1. If you want something modern, fast and race-car like, then the 458.

There are times when I get stuck in traffic I wish I had a 458 over my 09 F430. When on a curvy road where I'm shifting a lot, then I really enjoy my F1 F430, especially now with the new accumulator. Yes it's not as smooth as the 458, but that is the point.

if I had to buy one car and one car only for my fun vehicle, then the 458.

Sometimes for some its not about the newest, fastest and most expensive and more about usable performance more of the time.

Its a similar story with a GT3 and a Turbo, one is slower, more raw, ragged and race car, seat of your pants like and ,the other is hugely fast, comfortable and capable more GT car.

One of the best smiles per mile cars I have driven, is a very well sorted Clio 182 Trophy. You just can't help but laugh! As time goes by and Roads become more congested to the point 550bhp is pointless as you are only as fast as the Suzuki Alto in front of you, its more fun having a less powerful, ten tenths car that you have to work it.

I'd have a 458 though, sell it and get a SCUD!

+1 ^^ The "slowest" car I have is the 355 GTS - and it is the most fun, rewarding and enjoyable to drive 90+% of the time:cool:

Agree with the 355 being the "slowest" for me too, but have to say it is the most engaging! My 360 spider was a fun car too, but was recently totaled, so I made the jump to a 458 Italia to join my 355 GTS. Haven't had a chance to drive the 458 yet due to weather. Looking forward to spring!

I've driven a 458 and a Speciale. It seems like they're only exciting when you're going 100+. I drove a Scuderia and it was absolutely fantastic. I really felt like I was in a race car. I would keep my factory gated 360 and a Scuderia over an Italia.

I wasn't able to to make the after-party but saw the pics (including several of your car that are suitable for framing :) ) and it looked like an amazing place and beautiful setting for the cars - was sad I could not make it but needed to support a friend with a sudden death in the family to that took priority.

Would definitely love to meet up - Perhaps at Redlands or Rock Bottom across from Park Meadows - big parking lot and depending on where you sit the cars are visible. There is another cool guy in the area I have met up with (sick pretty blue 488 Spider) and I have some non-Ferrari friends who are still "car guys" (C8 Vette / Jag F-Type) - Let's look for a good day with junk off the roads and set it up :)

<Sorry for temporarily hijacking this thread - We will take this to the RM forum - Thanks for the indulgence - back to regularly-scheduled programming>:D

So many 458 fans in here. The 458 drain just doesn’t move my soul. The 430 to me is way more attractive and the sound that comes out of the 360 motor with an exhaust is just an experience one must experience. To me, if you can’t swing a 488 I would skip the 458. The F430 is probably one of the most beautiful Ferrari’s ever made. I don’t care what transmission is in a 360 or 430. I will have both in my garage soon myself.

having 2 cars will give you more trouble than having just one.
I have 10+ , and I am in the process of getting rid of all of them and then ------- buy a corolla.
so, 458 for you all the way

Having had a few CS’s, a couple Scuds, and a 458, my vote is for the 458. That’s assuming the 360/430’s are standard versions. Now if you’re talking CS and Scud, I’d take those two.

The choices as stated for me would be neither. Drove, but didn’t care for either the 430 or 458, and I knew a 360 would not work for me so never bothered to drive one.

Drove a Scuderia on two occasions and it was what a Ferrari should be. Now ultimately, I chose a Ford GT (which was leaps and bounds above the Scuderia for me) a Scuderia would be in my garage if I wasn’t poor….get out the tiny violins.
