I did some research this morning on AutoTrader, no GTAs for sale, none (therefore none in a dark color, black or blue, my preferences)

SAS raised the price on the pretty red one by $10k. The listing says they’ll perform a major on it as part of the sale. Reviews online for their dealership suggest that this is an exceptionally bad idea. It does not seem like the kind of place I would want to buy a Ferrari.

Algar (yes I said Algar. I still refer to this amazing dealership by the name I have grown to love) has a very nice 456. TDF blue and beige
    155k. Nice 575’s can’t break 125k. I don’t get it

We talked about this car in one of the threads around here. It’s allegedly a red book car despite an aftermarket radio. Late model 456M in a manual trades for a significant premium over a ‘95. It’s like comparing the 575 6-speeds to a 550, or an to an automatic 575. The ratio of cars is relatively similar.

Interesting observation and assessment. There may be a greater delta in the premium for a 575 shifter car at least now.

I believe it was @Laserguru who first observed this. His theory was the % premium over an automatic should be similar since the breakdown of transmission deliveries was similar. It's a good theory. It suggests to me that the MGT's have more space to grow over MGTA and GT's. I'd agree with that assessment by and large; the only thing keeping me from agreeing 100% is there are still people who prefer the GT's over the MGT's. I do not think many people prefer a 550 over a 575 and the market for 2-seaters is still larger. But the premium to go to a '02-'03 MGT over a '95 GT is not as high as it should be, in my opinion, and I say this as a guy who prefers the non-M.

Many owners (and non-owners) prefer the 550 to the 575M. And, of course, the opposite is true. Ratio is about 3:2 for some reason.

Interesting. I like the headlights of the 550 better, and ultimately that was my poster car, but I figured I was in the extreme minority.

    The key magical phrase…no reserve!

i need to unsubscribe from this thread!!!! I clearly have a “wanting” problem and it drives me crazy ;-)

really wish someone here in the Bay Area would do a 4 person LLC to own a 575 F1 and a 456 so I could have fun but not store and not put all the money in…..

Nah. Supposedly legroom in the M is worse than the GT, and this is not a color combo I care for. I was the underbidder on a maser 4200 this week. My bid was more than anyone had paid on there for a 4200 and still wasn’t enough. My budget is down from last year since I might start a business & want to play it safe. Marketing ain’t cheap.

A lifetime ago (2005) my wife and I had a long day cruising the coast in a borrowed Maser convertible and I really enjoyed it and I recall when I popped the hood it was sexy but I also popped the trunk and with the convertible it was almost tough to carry anything.

I had been doing some research on the 2013 and 2014 convertibles and they look great as a 4 seat reasonable option….

Really? I always had heard the opposite.
Personally I wish I could get an M interior and GT exterior. The hood design on the GT is a sublime throwback

The coupe has manageable luggage space, which is probably good for my intended use case as a GT, seats 4 (also good), and has more legroom (like a 360 coupe vs spyder). It's a big girl by 2-door italian standards but she can hustle. Suspension is a little softer than I would prefer, but the roads are too tight around me to do more than like 7/10 anyways. A $60k premium to get into a 456 is less appealing to me these days, and that's about the going rate. When I started looking 3 years ago it was more like $30-35k, so I decided to wait on a 4200 until my house sold and go for a 456. Times changed since then though (again).

I believe the firewall and pedals were moved inboard, and the position of the seat rails did not change. That's just my offhand recollection.
I also prefer the hood and the 5-gauge center stack, though I hate the radio situation.

Are the fender shields a rare option on 1995+ Ferraris? Im not sure when they migrated from the F40 onto 355s and others. We've all seen the fender decals, not sure if some cars have metal shields glued on vs the factory fenders with inlaid badges.

What was the typical option cost from factory?

Are you sure about the yellow sunroof 360s? I had from new a US yellow sunroof 360 6sp, it had black Daytona seats, but no shields. It's possible shields were added at some point. It had Challenge Grille, and was delivered originally with the Competition wheels, which I traded at the dealer for the starfish.

I know there are two. I do not know if the shields on the other one are fake. But I do know it has a black Daytona interior.

The other yellow sunroof/stick is owned by a member here. Must be your old car, would be my guess.

Could be, any pix? My car was a 2002, VIN 127478, delivered new to Ferrari of San Francisco. This pic is late 2002.

EDIT: I actually have some 456 content, which is how I found this thread, so I'm not entirely off-topic! I've been offered a dark blue/blue-crema 6sp 456, I'm going to take a look at it tomorrow. I have no info as to year (it's not an M), mileage, or price, but they said "good driver" so I'm assuming higher miles.

I don't know any other details and can't remember the guy's username, but that would have to be it. He's in California somewhere.
