That F50 steering wheel mod is one of the best mods I've done on that car. I drove it to cars and coffee this morning and loved it. It's so small and light and so much easier to manipulate than that bulky airbag wheel that came with the car. It actually makes the car seem more responsive.
It looks amazing and I'm sure makes the car feel better- there isn't anything I "don't like" about my beloved 355 but the airbag steering wheel does not fit the car- Whar you did would be icing on the cupcake
@bertrand328 Yes. The French PPI was honest. My local mechanic was very impressed with the mechanical condition of the car. The only thing he found that had me fix which the French PPI missed or omitted was a small leak from the transmission input shaft seal. Also, to be clear, I was not disrespecting the French... my actual concern was that the PPI was done by the selling dealership, which I felt uncomfortable with since they would be biased on the condition of the car. Since everything else checked out and the dealership, at that time, seemed very transparent I chose to accept their PPI mostly based on their 25 year history as a respected dealership. Unfortunately on another thread you can read about my "adventure" with them which included the dealership not sending the title for months, so I got nervous about their honesty and chose to get it re-inspected for that reason. Again, not a reflection on my feelings towards the French.... just one dealership!
Don't worry about my question. We have in France as everywhere else some qualified shop and some other ....less. Always nice to know where and who are the "honest".
Merry Christmas from NZ. 2 months ago my beloved went in for a service and a power steering issue. Turned out the FHP rack had a major issue. My amazing mechanic sorted it using his skill and various adapted parts from Volvo (seals) and bmw (pump) I was resigned to not getting it back for quite a while but a couple of days ago he announced it would be ready Christmas Eve and he delivered. The best Christmas present ever here it is parked in front of a pōhutukawa tree, what we refer to as a nz Christmas tree as it has beautiful red flowers this time of the year View attachment 2976030
Probably the most eclectic garage on FChat. I love unique vehicles as much as I love supercars. Since this is the Ferrari F355 photo thread, I won't clutter it up with photos of the other vehicles. I do need to have a photoshoot with at least 2 or all 3 soon! The F355 is a nero carbonio metallic '96 U.S. GTS with the unobtanium carbon fiber sport seats in red/black. From my research, this is the only F355 GTS built with these specs. The Classic Mini is a full custom build by Z Cars Mini in the UK. It's a one-off built RHD twin Yamaha R1 engined (300+ hp claimed) beast with twin sequential transmission, RWD, Quaife differential, with a roll cage, stripped out interior with CF dash and door panels. "Maxi" made the cover of Mini Magazine in early 2021. The winged wonder is a 1984 Tritan A2, aka "The Pizza Rocket" VIN #001 of only 10. This was supposed to be the future of pizza delivery and was owned and campaigned by Domino's before being donated to a museum. It's road legal and I drive it to local shows (and will deliver pizza for $100+ cash tips lol). It only has 10% of the Mini's horsepower (30 hp) from a rear mounted and air cooled rotary engine and is also RWD. It's more air cooled Porsche than their current lineup. It's been featured in the NY Times and other auto publications.
I absolutely love it - I am not a fan of modding my cars (just me - nothing wrong with it) but if there is one thing I would change on my beloved 355 it is the steering wheel and that F50 wheel just fits the car - and the vintage. I may pester you at some point on the details with regard to fit, adapters if any and obviously how to deal with the airbag (or lack thereof). Cheers
I fitted a 360 steering wheel on my car today, so I made a trip to Paris for a test drive. Steering wheels pics first: Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Then a bad pic in front of you know what: Image Unavailable, Please Login Then, when getting back to my hotel I found this: Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Just kidding, I can't afford this kind of hotel (between €1000 and €2000 the night for a single room, much more for a suite...) Anyway, nice Aventador SVJ. The 355 looks definitively vintage beside it! Image Unavailable, Please Login
