Anyone made the move and whats your opinion?
I have both. Though same platform, engine, totally different - 812SF you want to drive in CT Off, manual mode, hard and fast. The exhaust sounds amazing. The sound is so ****ing good, and I've had a 588 HGTE, and F12. - 812GTS you want to drive slow and quiet in auto mode. The suspension is softer all around. It's quiet car. The exhaust sound even with top down is not in the same league as 812SF. This is a car to drive slow cause you don't hear it. Kinda like talking to a teenager with a broken voice. i wished the 812GTS was THE convertible version of 812SF, but it is NOT. It's a fancier Mercedes s500 convertible. with that said, 812GTS is my goto car for around town trips, such as costco / grocery runs. and the 812SF is when I want to get out of town and go for a drive.
I have made the move - and of course this is all personal opinion. For me, very happy with the move. I like the GTS’s softer suspension; it breathes with the road better. The engine note is indeed less feral than in the SF (thanks to the GPF), but it still sounds fabulous. And with that little rear window wound down you have the best of both worlds - protection from the elements with that amazing noise piped into the cabin. There is very little scuttle shake (frankly imperceptible unlike, sadly, my 488 Pista Spider), and roof up the car is still astonishingly fast and aggressive in Race or CT Off. Indeed two different (and great) cars, but I think the GTS is the greater all rounder - at least for my tastes!
In my experience, this exaggerates the difference in the driving experience. I have owned a 812 SF and still have a 812 GTS. Sure, the GTS is slightly heavier and softer suspension but I barely noticed, especially on the road (I have done a small amount of track driving with both and there it's a little more noticeable). In terms of sound, undoubtedly the GTS is quieter especially at lower revs. I put sport cats and x pipe on mine (removes GPF) and that makes it back into the beast it should be - highly recommended.
Switched from SF to GTS and couldn't be happier. Roof up it's like driving the coupe, having the option to put the roof down just makes it so much better. Both vehicles were lowered on Novitec springs with cat delete exhausts so the sound is very similar with both. Stock vs stock the GTS sounds terrible, then again a stock SF sounds pretty tame as well until you remove the cats and factory exhaust. I only drive my cars when it's nice out so getting the spider version made the most sense for me as the roof is down 95% of the time anyways
Have my pre-GPF 812 SF for sale, and the GTS arriving this week. Excited to say the least, but a little concern over sound. As Karl said, that can be fixed.
IF there is any fixing to be done, you can do it in your HEAD. I have had F12, 812SF, and now 812GTS. This one sounds as good or even better when you add the sound of a little wind in your ears and the sky over your head.
Id also note it seems the GPF break in over the first several hundred to thousand miles so it might end up surprising you/ you might end up growing used to it. Ive heard a few GTS in person and they just sound different to the SF- I prefer the SF sound in person- but the GTS sounds good and I have not heard the sound at higher RPMs. Sent from my iPad using FerrariChat
I “only” have the SF. Couldn’t be happier but yes would love to remove the top or have the option to lower that rear window. But with a 200k delta I’ll have to settle with the SF and that $200k toward an F8s still on order. It’ll be a great combo! But you guys that ordered and specced your own GTS congrats. I feel it’s the pinnacle! Sent from my iPhone using FerrariChat
Shack, I prefer the lines of the SF and the fact that it does not have GPF. The GTS is perfect all rounder aside from the limited trunk space. What are you thinking??
Hey Condor, I made the switch and am very happy. The open top V12 is just spectacular and on a nice sunny day its sublime. I did configure mine a bit more sporty with Sport seats and the SF812 wheels - made it look a bit more "gangster" . Painted shields are mandatory.... Image Unavailable, Please Login
Wow! If Santa drove a Ferrari this would be it! Jingle Bells, Jingle Bells..... Jingle all the Way!! When are we going for a drive??
Really, unbelievable. Can’t wait to see more. Mine feels so boring and generic now. I wish I had the patience to do TM. One of these days but this as the model to do it on if some of the rumors are true. When will it be in your hands?
