0415 GT a bit earlier, Nassau 1955. Marcel Massini Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
Did 250GT Europa start out with Ferrari's earlier chassis (front transvers leaf)? This 0415GT has the later chassis. Thanks. john
You may want to indicate from where this photo originates. Also, if from a magazine or book, when and where was this pic taken? UK? And what caption came with the pic? Marcel Massini
Sorry Marcel, absolutely no idea where this pic came from. I thought to 0387GT but the shape of the uncorrect grill makes me doubt. Thanks.
That's it !! Thank you Kare. The caption will help us to find the serial number : "The 250 GT Europa" !!
In the "More old photos" thread, I recently explained why the 250 Europa GT at the 1956 Liège-Rome-Liège with Gendebien was not 0373GT but 0357GT. But then, I noticed that 0357GT couldn't be our car but I found another good candidate : 0371GT. Look especially the shape of the rear wheel arches when 0371GT was in very bad shape in USA in the 70's : exactly like the car raced by Gendebien ! Also note on 0371GT wreck the 8 horizontal bars in the grill like the early cars and the Liège-Rome-Liège car. 0357GT had such large rear wheel arches in 70's and that's what fooled me but I'm now convinced that the car was in fact 0371GT. Gendebien must have had 0373GT much later. He explained in his book how much the delay to have its car rebuild by the factory was long (several months) and this is why he ran the 1956 Tour de France with Ringoir and 0357GT. Brilliant discovery, a real game changer, that solves many conflicts for good. Nothing short of amazing how all the pieces fit into new positions!
Quizz of the week : who can give the s/n of this Europa GT ? Picture found on the web many years ago... Image Unavailable, Please Login
Post 187, I believe that may be 0405GT when it was offered at Fantasy Junction in Berkeley, CA, probably on behalf of Paul Forbes, around 1998/1999. Looks like the Fantasy Junction showroom.
I wonder if the mystery black car on post #178 is not 0379GT in definitive ? Only this one has such rounded front grill. May be we got off the track with the rounded lights + aditional headlights on our mystery car ? What do you think ? Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
Pasquini severly crashed the car a few weeks later at the Coppa Gallenga : the reporter seemed amazed he escaped unhurt, but the car had « molti danni » (a lot of damage). Maybe this helps narrowing the candidates ?
Image Unavailable, Please Login Quizz of the day : which one is shown here in front of Golden Gate Bridge in San Francisco ? And which year ? Thanks in advance.
0351/EU, on Washington plates when owned by Lorne Garden. Washington issued the 1956 standard US-plate with ABC123-format in 1958 I think, and as they seem to have been handed out in alphabetical order, I'd say the photo was taken around 1960.
Incredible ! I never would have thought of this one !There is a date on the top of the picture : january 1962. Many thanks !
