    I guess they're still figuring out what they'll do regarding the hybrid system - for the real competition cars (GTE/GT3) it was a no-brainer to ditch it but the challenge cars use to be close to the road cars, so having a pure ICE as 296 challenge would look as weird as a N/A 488 challenge. On the other hand managing the hybrid system (purely driven by legal requirements) on racing cars may prove tricky.

    Personally I'd prefer they ditch it and make up the difference with more boost (even if it's not quite as efficient as the electric engines). Much less weight, fewer things to go wrong...I'm sure the battery replacement cost is a drop in the ocean compared to the rest of the running cost, but still.

    Also, safety concern? Usually some pretty massive crashes happen over the year in Ferrari challenge. Lithium battery split is not something I'd enjoy dealing with.

    Ferraris GT Racing Departmernt, Competizioni GT, had a hell of a work with the 296 GT3 and the 499P getting both ready for the 2023 season. Challenge was not the same priority and we will see the new 296 Challenge somewhere this year.

    It looks like the GT3 car. It has the metal supports in the front windshield. FIA rule?

    correct, there are lots of tests ongoing with the 296 Challenge. This was Monza couple of days ago.

    Exciting!!! Is it the Oreca chassis or the 296 Ferrari road chassis?

    I hope they did away with the Ferrari electronics.

    If they are using the road chassis, then most likely the road car electronics are present.

    This will be such a fun car to drive. 700ps, lighter chassis and no hybrid= win win win.
    Hopefully those 'reworked tires'will last a bit longer....
