Not sure. It depends on whether the sensor is passive or active. Active sensors are harder to diagnose. Usually active sensors have 3 pins, but not always.

Did you set your meter to AC voltage? i.e. "V" with the wavy line on top (not the dashed one)

Is booked in for tomorrow at the Ferrari specialist so hopefully they can tell me the issue and hopefully it’s not too expensive

Hi guys thought I’d give you an update in the hope it helps others, so I took the car to supercar centre in Sheffield they were absolutely brilliant I couldn’t recommend them enough really helpful and knowledgeable guys!, anyway they plugged the car in to there Ferrari diagnostic equipment and within seconds it came up with rear left wheel speed sensor issue, funnily enough that was the only one I didn’t put my multimeter on as I couldn’t get to that corner properly in my garage,sl stripped it down tonite and I found silicone on the plug so somones obviously already tried to test it previously I’m assuming and damaged the connector on it although thankfully the speed sensor connector not the main harness connector. Took it out and to my shock the cable had been rubbing on the driveshaft and worn right through into the wire so that shows it’s defiantly the issue!

haven’t finished it yet as one of the wheel bearing bolts was rusted to the point where it rounded so need another bolt but apart from that hopefully not long before it’s back on the road!

Here is what is written in the workshop manuals regarding car speed/vehicle speed:

Note that the signal sent to the Motronic ECUs is the same as the one sent to the speedometer (according to the wiring diagrams).
This appears to disagree with what is happening on your car. Since you had a speedometer problem and ABS warning lights, this suggests the left rear is responsible for the speedo car speed signal and that perhaps for the purposes of ABS, car speed data is a combination of LH rear and RH front (but doesn't necessarily exclude the RH rear and LH front... as any single sensor can cause an ABS light)

    Anyway, thanks for the update!

To put a close to the post as expected now the new speed sensor/wheel bearing is now in place the car drives perfectly and the speedo is steady and consistent and no abs light on dash or asr warnings on the screen so very happy! Thanks for all help throughout the issue guys I’m sure they’ll be plenty more issues in the future but for now all is well!

It is really great when an owner comes here looking for help and whether it is given or not returns and tell us the outcome. That enables the rest of to learn from it. So thank you Ricky. Enjoy your car.

No worries there’s nothing that frustrates me more than people giving help and then the person takes it and vanishes with no thank you or update to if it’s worked etc etc, have seen a couple on here with similar issues to me and they never updated it which would of really helped me diagnose my issue a little earlier. Thanks me and the misses going out for a meal this evening and taking the Ferrari first time she’s been in it
