No point saying 250GTO because I've never driven one and I'd hate to be stuck for eternity with it if I found out it wasn't just right, so although I am Ferrari through and through I'd pick my old FIAT 124 Sport AC series

The most beautifully balanced car for driving the Putty Rd, sure-footed, 4 wheel disc brakes, hold max revs all day without any problems, better gearbox than a Ferrari and it ALWAYS felt like it was on your side

Hopefully there are no speed limits in hell :p

    A few questions…

    - do you have to service the car? Or fuel up?
    - would the car rust?
    - do have pirelli tyres?

    ;)

What are you smoking? or drinking? or snorting? or injecting? I can see why you are on your way to hell.

I understand a Fiat 124 AC is a fantastic car and you wouldn't need to worry about speed limits with a 1400 engine but you'd seriously take a Fiat 124 over a Ferrari 355 Challenge? ( as a backdrop, I grew up with 124's as my best friend was more of Italian/Lotus Europa car guy than muscle car guys as my other High School friends, some of them owned by way of example a Torana LC 186 GTRs [restored on a driveway when we were 16], LH SLR's, XB 351 4 speed sedan or XB 302 coupes or 250cc Road bikes like Suzuki RGVs or Yahama RDs/RZs or Kawasaki KRs and a couple in the AMOC club the other I spoke to other day owned a Alfa 105 1800, Fiat CC 1800 and Lancia Beta Coupe in succession when they were new and rated the Alfa as their fav by some margin).

The 124 gearbox is pretty good but as not sweet as a Alfa 105 gearbox (as another aside, why did you sell your grigio Alfa105 Rob?)

To answer your question, it would be either of the 4: a nero Daytona coupe with EZ power steering or 512 Boxer (in argento or oro) or 308 GTB QV (in blue sera/blue chiaro) or 246 GT (in argento or dino blu metallizato). I'd be equally happy with any one of them.

Is there any car that can match the brutish masculinity yet elegant exterior of a non red Daytona coupe?

    See you in hell.

    P.S
In your airforce days Moretti, did you ever meet a pilot call L Matthews.

    P.S.S
If you really loved the 124 AC, you'd buy one as they aren't exactly expensive even now - the irony being that back in the day (1980s), they were very similarly priced to most run of the mill Australian muscle cars as used cars. How have perception and values changed! I loved my Italian Torana - the Alfa GTV-6.

Nup a BC for me,...had two of.
Cleaner lines than a CC and more grunt than an AC.
Better looking engine as well with the twin Webers, wonder why they didn't tune the CC that way.

Why would you choose that over a 105 series Alfa?

I'd probably end up in my 360 being chased by a horde of extremely bad things. The 360 would have a flashing CEL and start running rough. Then it would catch fire and I'd be burned alive. Then it would start again.

I spent 2 days in one, lovely car, but too quiet !!!

The 355 is a LOT quieter with the Fabspeed headers but I still need earplugs if I'm going to drive it for more than an hour :)

Pista has phenomenal acceleration , even in top gear !!

The major difference between a Pista and FIAT124sport is I'd hit the wall at Mallala racetrack faster and have more chance of living .... where's the fun in that ? :p
